STEPS ON HOW TO INTERPRET A SOLAR RETURN CHART,
by Starlink

A Solar Return chart is a chart made for only one year in the life. It is a very personal way to see how transits will relate to your natal chart and especially the personal planets give an important insight in how they work out this year.

Once you understand the basics of your birth chart interpretation, you can use the same technique on your Solar Return chart. The Solar Return chart is a chart drawn up for the exact time when your Sun makes its yearly return to the position it was on at your birth. So you have a different Solar Return chart every year, but the Sun is always at the same sign and degree. Solar Return charts can be created at
http://www.astro.com/ under "Free Horoscopes" "Extended Chart Selection". (excerpt from Wilscontc)

A Solar Return chart should always be looked at in connection with your natal chart , at least according to my own experiences, because we want to see what our natal planets are doing this year and looking at their positions in the SR chart is one way doing that. Putting them on a 2-wheel chart is a good way of viewing them. Put the natal chart in the inner wheel. Use different colours (for the planets, highlight them by hand if you print it out) for both charts. Personally I draw a Solar Return chart, then also a Natal chart with the SR positions around the wheel. That way you can also keep an eye on the natal chart positions of planets.

Note:You can also view the Solar Return as a chart on its own, but it wont tell you as much as when you compare with the natal chart.

It is not easy to interprete a Solar Return chart because very often what we see in there, reflects the hopes and wishes of the individual and not necessary what will happen to him/her. That is also why we have to look at the birth potential. If the Solar Return shows a fantastic career move, but in the natal chart it is clearly seen that any career attempt is going to be non existent (when the woman is a mother rather than a career type) or when there is no fire present, nor any ambition to be seen (Cardinal mode), then we have to be careful. It could be a wish, not a reality.

We start by only looking at the Solar Return chart.

Begin by looking at the overview of the SR chart, just like you would do it for a natal chart.
If you have most planets in your natal chart above the horizon, but now all of a sudden most appear below the horizon in the SR chart, than this could show a year where you will tend to keep more to yourself, turn inwards and become more subjective.
When it is the opposite, then you could probably try to become more social or circumstances will force you to be more “public” this year.

When most planets fall on the Asc. side (east) of the SR chart, you might become more driven and action orientated. You will have more opportunities to do what you like without having to take too much into consideration what others might think or expect from you, which would not be so much the case when most planets would fall on the Desc. side (west).

Which quadrant is most occupied in the Solar Return:
1-4 shows personal needs
5-8 shows much involvement with other people
9-12 could show a transpersonal time in your life, much thinking about your life, your wishes and hopes for the future and more time spend in private, necessary to think things over.

Next, where are most planets situated looking at the houses of the Solar Return chart?
Most planets in angular houses (1-4-7-10), comparible with the Cardinal quality/signs. Angular houses are always very strong and much action could take place, new projects and /or relationships could be started, in any case, mostly anything new undertaken.

Most planets in succedent houses (2-5-8-11) are comparable with the fixed quality (signs)and could show that what you have started at the beginning of the SR year, could be finished (“fixed”) or needs to be finished . Depending on the aspects, opportunities for growth are possible.

Most planets in cadent houses? (3-6-9-12), comparable with the Mutable quality/signs. Therefore it could be a year of change and mental activity. Adaptability is necessary and one could tend to start several things at the same time, unable to really concentrate on one thing at a time.

NOTE: Rising planets, especially natal planets which are in the rising side of the SR chart, and especially the one’s in the 1st house and close to the SR Asc. have a lot of power in this year.

It has also been seen, that natal planets positions in the Solar Return chart can have more impact in this year than Solar Return planets in the SR chart. Always look at both.

Lastly look at the Angles of your Solar Return chart.

Ascendant shows what you want, how you will express your personality.
MC Show what you will aim for and the IC how things could end.

See if they are Fixed,(wanting to stay the same) Cardinal( wanting to advance), or Mutable (wanting to change certain situations).

Examples:

Cardinal Asc. and IC/MC Fixed: you could start something and end the year by completing what you wanted to do. The Cardinal energy could bring on an exciting and busy time, trying to get something done and the Fixed quality will help you to make it a finished (fixed) product or plan.
Fixed Asc. and Mutable IC/MC? Your conservative ideas or situations (fixed) might have to be changed or will undergo change (Mutability always shows changes with a great deal of activity indicated.
Mutable Asc. and Fixed IC/MC? Things you have not finished yet will need to be concluded . (mutable people have trouble to finish something they started). Try to accomplish something you started a while ago (if you think it is important of course) but listen to your own intuition, rather than to what others tell you.
Fixed Asc. and Cardinal IC/MC: You could expand or update established, (maybe oldfashioned) ideas and . Maybe now is the time to do what you actually wanted to do for a long time and take action (Cardinal attitude)

Intercepted signs and planets are also important to look at, because those houses will be so much bigger. Intercepted planets could have trouble to express their energy at the beginning of the year but when by progression of the angles, they move out of those interceptions they could express their energy later on in the year.

Now begin by comparing SR chart and natal chart.

Begin by looking at the SR Ascendant.

If the SR Ascendant is the same as your natal Asc. then this year could be a very important year with great integration from your part. It does not necessarily have to be an easy year however. The outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will easily show you if they will cause difficulties or chances.

Should the Natal Descendant become the SR Ascendant, then a difficult year could be awaiting you, but not necessarily a bad year. You might be at the “mercy” of others this year (the East side is now seen on the Asc.,( West side) and East side is always associated with helping others, being of service to others or being dependent on others). Jupiter or Venus rising might help to diminish the problems a bit .

This position could also indicate health problems during the year. Look at the SR 6th house to determine that. Same problems can arise when SR Moon opposes the Sun.
When a marriage should take place in this year, then very often you also will see that the natal Descendant appears on the Solar Return Asc. In my opinion this cannot really show a “difficult” year. That’s why I always look at other transits to the natal chart AND progressed planets to the natal chart, to determine whether this will indeed be a difficult year or not.

The sign on the Asc. will colour your natal Ascendant sign. So if natal Asc. is Capricorn but Solar Asc. is Saggittarius, you might become a bit more adventurous this year, maybe get more interested in other cultures, travel or starting a new study.

As written above, the SR Ascendant ruler and any planets in the 1st SR house are very important.

Look into which house the SR Ascendant falls in your natal chart.
If it falls within 5° of the next house cusp then take the next house.
That house will usually get a lot of focus in the year to come, as well as the house where the Sun is in the SR chart. The Sun never changes sign, but does change house. Also look at both natal and SR rulers of that house.

NB: Should your SR. Asc. be ruled by a transpersonal planet (Uranus, Neptune or Pluto), then also look at this one. The traditionalists amongst us can look at Saturn, Jupiter and Mars or both modern and traditional to get an allround picture

The house in which the Sun falls in the SR chart is the birthday month's forecast and influence, and each house the Sun travels through after that show the following month, since the Sun transits at the rate of one sign or house per month. Each house the Sun gets into will get some focus that month and the sign and planet ruling the cusp of that house, influences the outlook for that month. Pay attention to the aspects the Sun makes to other planets as it will be possible that it could trigger an event.

Look at all the natal planets and see where they are now placed (which house and sign) in the SR chart. The sign will change their expression a bit or add to the natal expression, the house shows the area where they will “shine” this year.

Where the Solar Return MOON falls in the natal chart indicates an area of restlessness at the beginning of the year. The Progressed Moon has to be taken into account as well to form an idea of how your emotional state could be this year.

Natal Saturn in the SR 12th house can show the need to spend time alone, or even hospitalization. A good placement for solitary work. When it is near the Ascendant, then it should be seen as a 1st house planet and there it will show the necessity to concentrate and focus this year or the need for serious assessment of your life situation.

Natal Jupiter in the SR 12th can show a certain amount of protection during the year. (Same is said of natal Jupiter in the 12th house.) When near the Asc. it will be more noticeable in the 1st house and can show more optimism and the need for freedom and/or expansion.

Indicators of Marriage: 3rd, 7th houses accentuated. Sun or Venus conj.SR Ascendant. 5th and 7th houses both activated and Venus prominent could show a love affair (5) which might end into a commitment (7). Also see if progressed Venus is making an important aspect to the MC or Ascendant of the natal chart the following year(s).

Childbirth or Pregnancy: 4th, 5th and 11th houses activated, North Node in the 5th house, ruler of the 5th in the 1st house. Moon in the 5th could mean thinking about it but not necessarily becoming pregnant.

Career/Job change: 2nd, 6th and 10th houses activated. Uranus or Moon in 6th and 10th especially show change. Also look at Uranus transits over the natal chart’s 10th or 6th house.

Home change: 4th house prominent. Moon or Uranus in 4th. Uranus can also show changes within the home as well, like an addition made or changing the furniture. Mars could show more activity regarding family or home matters.
Saturn in SR 4th shows staying in the same place.

Health:1st, 6th and 12th houses. Sun-Moon oppositions could show health problems. Good aspects between them show good health.

Surgery : 8th and Mars in the 8th or on the Asc. or the Moon in the 8th, challenged. (also for dental surgery and caesarian section delivery) but also look at the transiting or progressed Mars aspecting the Ascendant.

Inheritance: strong 2nd/8th activity.

Divorce: 3rd (dissolution of contract), 7th (break with partner), 8th (financial settlements) and the 9th (legal activities). Pluto, Uranus and Mars angular (because they will conjunct, square or oppose the 7th house.

ASPECTS

Solar Return planets are only to be considered active when they aspect a natal planet!Any planet within 3° of a cusp, activates that house.
Any planet on an angle or within 5° before the angle should get extra attention, as well as the house this planet rules.
Any Solar Return planet which conjuncts the same natal planet, like SR Venus conjunct natal Venus (within 3° to 4°) is particularly significant and the SR houses ruled by them also need special attention.

SR planets forming a T-square or Grand Square with a natal opposition or T-square or a YOD with a natal quincunx can show great activity in the natal houses.

A Solar Return chart can be progressed by moving the housecusps. This is done with the moving of the MC. The MC moves 1° every 4 days which comes then to 7.5° per month etc. When you have found the new position of the MC, then look in your table of houses to find the corresponding Ascendant and other housecusps.
So in this case it is not the planets which move, but the angles which move towards the planets! When any planet gets to less than 5° distance from a SR planet, that could then show that something might happen in relation to that planet and the house it rules.

General Notes:

Do keep all aspects between natal and Solar Return planets within 5° orb.

InterpretationAn interpretation of the solar return chart only makes sense against the backdrop of the natal chart. It makes little sense to interpret it on its own. The following list includes the main criteria for interpretation:
  • The Solar Ascendant: It shows an individual's approach to life in general in the coming year.
  • The Solar Medium Coeli: It shows the general aim in the coming year.
  • These houses will be activated:
    • The natal houses in which the solar Ascendant and Medium Coeli fall.
    • The natal house and the solar house in which the ruler of the solar Ascendant stands.
    • The solar house in which the Sun stands.
    • Any solar house with three or more solar planets in it.
  • Planets which aspect the axes in the solar return chart - they are particularly significant if they are conjunct the Ascendant.
  • Repetition of aspects: Aspects that occur in both the solar chart and the natal chart are particularly significant. When this happens the themes this aspect represents in the natal chart are emphasised and can find new forms of expression or impetus. For example, if there is a square between Saturn and the Sun in the natal chart and a trine between the same two planets in the solar return chart, the horoscope owner will probably find it easier to cope with Saturn/Sun themes in the coming year.
  • Any planets in the natal chart which receive many aspects from solar planets will be activated in the coming year.
It is not necessary to carry out such a detailed psychological interpretation of the solar return chart as is the case with the natal chart. It is possible to be far more concrete - although this doesn't mean [[Event Prediction|prediction of events]]. The natal chart reveals the deeper motivations whereas the solar return chart is more concerned with current events.
The Sun is not the only "planet" for which it is possible to erect a return chart - this can also be done for the Moon (Lunar Return Chart), for Mercury (Mercury Return Chart), Venus (Venus Return Chart) and Mars (Mars Return Chart).

General:

A Solar Return chart is a chart calculated for the exact moment when the Sun returns to its natal position (within 2 days of one’s birthday). This chart can be read much like a natal chart, except that it must be kept in mind that it is in effect only for the course of a year—–approximately from birthday to birthday. [Some astrologers believe the Solar Return is in effect for a longer period of time.]
It is especially important to have an accurate birth time when working with Return charts.
Note that astrologers work with lunar returns and planetary returns as well. I interpret Venus Returns here.

Keys to Interpreting Solar Returns:

A Solar Return chart can be read in as much detail as desired. Some key points to consider are as follows:
1- The Ascendant of the Solar Return chart will color the individual’s approach to his or her environment for the year. For example, if Aries is on the Ascendant in the Solar Return chart, the individual may approach the year with increased energy and enterprise, and perhaps with some impatience. It describes the individual’s overall temperament and attitude during the period. Read more about the Solar Return Ascendant signThe ruler of the Ascending sign, and its position by sign, house, and aspect, will hold more information as to the individual’s general temperament and focus for the year.
2- Note which planets and points in the natal chart, if any, are effectively brought to an angle of the Solar Return chart. Let’s say, for example, that the Solar Return Ascendant is 22 degrees Virgo, and the natal position of Venus is 24 degrees Virgo. The natal Venus is, therefore, conjunct the Solar Return Ascendant, and one can presume that the condition and issues surrounding the individual’s natal Venus will be highlighted (effectively coming to the fore) in the Solar Return year. This consideration shows us what natal conditions, or inherent personality issues, are highlighted in the year of the Solar Return. If, for example, you have a natal Sun square Mars, and the Sun is on the Solar Return Ascendant, perhaps with Mars on the Midheaven as well, we can safely presume that the Sun-Mars struggle or challenge will be especially highlighted in both a personal (Ascendant) and public (Midheaven) manner.
3- Similarly, note which Solar Return planets are on or aspecting Solar Return angles. These are transits that are emphasized in the year of the Solar Return.
4- What is the condition of the Sun? Where is it located by house? (We know the sign, of course, because it will be at the exact natal position). This can show a strong area of focus for the upcoming year. The house position of the Sun in the SR chart shows where (which areas of life) the individual wants to shine. The individual will take pride in this part of his or her life, and a big ego investment lies in this area. He or she has the opportunity to rejuvenate this area. What kind of aspects does the Sun make? See interpretations of the Solar Return Sun in aspect.
5- Another area of focus this year can be found by determining which natal house is effectively brought to the Ascendant. For example, if the Solar Return Ascendant is 14 degrees Cancer, and this degree is found in the natal fifth house, the natal fifth house is effectively “brought” to the Ascendant, and will be another area of focus.
6- Where is the Moon? The position of the Moon by house and sign will show where your heart is, so to speak. If, for example, the Solar Return Moon is in Libra in the 5th house, you will likely to be emotionally tied up in, and concentrated on, love and relationship. A strong need for personal self-expression will be characteristic of the year, and emotional ups and downs are likely to occur in this area of life, simply because this is where your heart is—this is the area of life that you have the biggest emotional investment in—and you may not be completely rational and “in control” in this area. More than simple fluctuations will be in store in this area of life if, for example, the Moon is also forming a square to Pluto in the Solar Return chart. Profound changes are likely to occur here. Thus, factoring in the Moon’s aspects will help refine the reading. Read more about the Solar Return Moon by sign, house, and aspect.
7- Note that a Solar Return chart can be read much like a natal chart, always keeping in mind that it is transient rather than permanent. If you are interested in looking at a specific area, such as finances, you can study the Return’s second house, eighth house, and the condition of Venus. For example, if Solar Return Venus is opposite Solar Return Neptune, especially if Venus also rules the second house in the Solar Return, you might presume that either this coming year there is less emphasis on materialism, or that your income might be fluctuating and somewhat unstable.
8- Get an overall feel for the Solar Return chart by examining hemispheric emphasis, whether or not it is scattered, and which houses (angular, succedent, and cadent) are emphasized. Also, note the qualities of the dominant signs of the year (cardinal, fixed, or mutable).
9- You know the upcoming year will be a “big” one (in a transitional sense) when the Solar Return Sun forms a hard angle with the Solar Return Moon. This is also true when the Sun is conjunct a Solar Return angle.
10- A consideration that I have found to be particularly significant is critical degrees. The most significant critical degrees in Solar Return interpretation are 29 degrees and 0 degrees of any sign. When found in the SR chart, there can be significant events surrounding the energy of the planet/point itself, and/or the house it rules in the chart. I do look at the classic critical degrees as well but as a secondary consideration.
For an insightful and rather thorough analysis of the Solar Return chart, look to Planets in Solar Returns: Yearly Cycles of Transformation & Growth by Mary Fortier Shea.

Example #1:

Let’s look at an example. The following is the natal chart of Ann:
The Solar Return chart for the year we are studying is presented below, along with Ann’s natal chart in the outer wheel so that we can easily see which natal planets conjunct the Solar Return angles.
Immediately, I honed in on a few standout features involving the angles:
  1. Solar Return Jupiter is conjunct the Ascendant (rising) in the Solar Return chart, and it opposes a conjunction of Mars and Neptune on the Descendant. Mercury squares this opposition, forming a T-square. All planets involved are in the foreground (angular), in prominent positions in the Return chart.
  2. The natal Moon conjuncts the Solar Return Midheaven.
  3. Solar Return Mercury is conjunct the natal Midheaven.
We also note that there is a conjunction of the Moon and Pluto in the Return chart, and that it trines SR Jupiter, and sextiles SR Mars and Pluto.
Many different issues came to the fore in the year in question. Most notably, her good friend with whom she maintained a friendship with for a few years, committed suicide and a murder on the same day. This, of course, came as a complete shock, and the violent act rocked Ann’s world. She had no clue that this man who seemed to be quite “together” could have committed such acts.
Ann, of course, struggled with this tragedy for some time after it happened. She struggled with guilt (did she ignore signs he may have been displaying?), loss (of a friendship), shock, and anger. If we had looked at the Solar Return chart before the events happened, we would not have been able to predict what actually happened. However, we may have easily seen that Ann would confront some powerful emotional issues, perhaps in a public manner (natal Moon conjunct the SR Midheaven), and that she would struggle with illusion/guilt/anger/excess with regards to her personal relationships (Mars conjunct Neptune at the Descendant). Mercury rules her natal 11th house of friendships, and it also rules her Solar Return 11th house. Mercury (both natal and Solar Return) is found in the 10th house conjunct her natal Midheaven, effectively bringing 11th house issues into the fore in a public manner.
The SR Moon conjunction to Pluto suggests an emotional crisis of sorts. James A. Eshelman, in his book Interpreting Solar Returns, describes this aspect as “Sharp, intensive alterations in life situations; dramatic transformations…Experiences elicit a profound, climactic emotional response (crisis, shock)…Encountering the unlikely, improbable, unbelievable.” (1)
Of course, we cannot expect something as dramatic as what happened in Ann’s life to occur as a result of the individual factors found in the Solar Return chart and noted here. For example, Neptune conjunct the Descendant in a Solar Return chart, taken alone, can very certainly represent the encountering of disillusionments in close relationships. It can also suggest a year in which the native looks for new meanings in relationships, for example.
It is interesting to find Jupiter prominent in Solar Returns and transits when, for example, a person has had an accident, or goes through something like Ann did. At first, it seems counter-intuitive because we consider Jupiter the planet of luck. Indeed, it does have a protective influence. Perhaps prominent Jupiter suggests a level of protection in the sense that the person survived the incident or crisis. Another way of looking at it is that Jupiter is the planet of expansion and excess. Effectively, it does represent some level of drama. Involved with Neptune and Mars, and we can easily see that it expanded or emphasized the Mars/Neptune issues of disillusionment. When in difficult aspect especially, Jupiter can suggest over-confidence and recklessness or misjudgment as a result.

The 7th House gives us an indication as to what we’re like in relationships, what kind of people we attract and who we’re attracted to, remember that the 7th House cusp is also the descendant.

Planets in the 7th House: Planets in the 7th House will not only indicate the placements of our marital partner, but also the nature of our marriage(s) Remember that we usually attract these partners because the planets in our 7th House will give us the same traits in relationships.

Sun in the 7th House: Energetic, lively, romantic partners, partners with solar/Leo influence or sun in the 1st/5th House, fun and optimistic relationship.

Moon in the 7th House: Warm, protective, emotional partners, partners with lunar/Cancer influence or moon in 1st/4th House, family oriented, loving relationship.

Mercury in the 7th House: Intellectual, cold, logical partners, partners with Mercurian/Virgo/Gemini influence or Mercury in 1st/3rd/6th House, intellectual, mind stimulating, cold relationship

Venus in the 7th House: Charming, fair, sweet partners, partners with Venusian/Taurus/Libra influence or Venus in 1st/2nd/7th House, fair, romantic, sensual relationship

Mars in the 7th House: Assertive, aggressive, masculine partners, partners with Martian/Aries influence or Mars in 1st House, aggressive, conflicting, sexual, exciting relationship

Jupiter in the 7th House: Optimistic, honest, adventurous partners, partners with Jupiter/Sagittarius influence or Jupiter in 1st/9th House, motivational, influential and adventurous relationship

Saturn in the 7th House: Strict, respectable, classy partners, partners with Saturn/Capricorn influence or Saturn in 1st/10th House, hardworking, cold, strong and stable relationships

Uranus in the 7th House: Rebellious, unconventional, unique partners, partners with Uranian/Aquarius influence or Uranus in 1st/11th House, chaotic, unusual, eccentric and exciting relationships

Neptune in the 7th House: Dreamy, dazed, deceptive partners, partners with Neptune/Pisces influence or Neptune in 1st/12th House, deceptive, dreamy, intuitive and loving relationship

Pluto in the 7th House: Power hungry, sexual, powerful partners, partners with Plutonian/Scorpio influence or Pluto in 1st/8th House, power struggling, sexual, intense and transforming relationship

Signs in the 7th House: While the planets in our 7th House tell us more about or partners, the sign on the cusp tells us more about ourselves. Some people don’t have planets in the 7th House and that is fine, it just means that you look at the sign and it’s planetary ruler. For example, if you have Aries on your 7th House cusp, it will have more or less the same affect as having Mars in the House. Now, in some charts you will have what’s known as ‘intercepted signs’ and that is when there are more than one sign in the house. In these situations, we look at the sign that is on the house cusp, the other sign in that house is more like potential, we take on those traits from time to time (even more so if a planet in the 7th House is in that intercepted sign).

Aries on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affects of Mars in 7th, makes someone ‘the leader’, provides an element of conflict or assertion

Taurus on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affects of Venus in 7th, makes someone down to earth, reliable and provides an element of luxury

Gemini on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affects of Mercury in 7th, makes someone witty and thoughtful, provides an element of communication

Cancer on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of the Moon in 7th, makes someone protective, loving, clingy and provides an element of home

Leo on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of the Sun in 7th, makes someone energetic, creative, romantic and provides an element of purpose

Virgo on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of Mercury in the 7th, makes someone intellectual, logical, cold and provides an element of service

Libra on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of Venus in the 7th, makes someone fair, loving, compassionate and provides an element of romance

Scorpio on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of Pluto in the 7th, makes someone need control, powerful, sexual and provides an element of growth

Sagittarius on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of Jupiter in 7th, makes someone optimistic, blunt, influential and provides an element of adventure

Capricorn on the 7th House Cusp: Replicates the affect of Saturn in 7th, makes someone respectable, strong, strict and provides an element of stability

Juno through houses

Asteroid Juno pertains to marriage, commitment and how we view these issues through the lens of astrology!

Queen of the Gods, she was married to Jupiter, her Greek equivalent is Hera.

Her symbols are the Peacock and Cow.

Where is Juno in your chart?

Juno In The First House
If Juno sits closely to your ascendant, being married or committed could be tied to your identity and self-image.

The first house rules our approach, appearance and the way we look – Juno found here can make marriage super important – your partner could be the center of your universe!

Juno In The Second House
Juno could lead marriage and partnership to be intertwined with money, possessions or the way you value yourself – self esteem.

The second indicates what we value in the material realm, so the person with Juno in the second could be ‘married to their things’, with a love of accumulating more, including money. Marriage could be desirable as something to increase a sense of self-worth.

They could also view their marriage partner as something to be owned or a source of wealth.

Juno In The Third House
For the person with Juno is the third house, marriage will come with a focus on communication. Perhaps a partner will help this person to express themselves more easily or the relationship will be about ‘being heard’. The union will benefit from being able to talk with one another.

Juno In The Fourth House
The person with Juno in the fourth will be attracted to a marriage partner who is domesticated and attached to the home environment, one who loves to nurture, cook and nest. With this placement the native could become more home-loving after marriage. Another possibility is that the person is wedded to their home life, with an importance on building a family brood.

Juno In The Fifth House
Those with Juno in the fifth will want a partner with whom they can play, be romantic and get excited with.

Children are likely to play an important part in the marriage, and it union can improve the creativity of the native.

Juno In The Sixth House
The person with Juno in the sixth might have their most important relationships in work or through the workplace – or they could be married to their work!

Co-operation is important in the relationship – these people need someone they can work with day-to-day, someone that’s reliable and attentive.

Juno In The Seventh House
Relationships are key for those with Juno in the seventh. Placed in the house of partnership this person might seek marital, business or professional relationships to last a lifetime.

They will be the cornerstone of life.

Juno In The Eighth House
For those with Juno in the eight, sex is likely to be important part of partnership, trust and power too. Marriage could be a transformative force, deeply emotional and intimate. Situated in the house of other people’s money and finances, your partner could regard you as a possession.

Juno In The Ninth House
The person with Juno in the ninth might wed a foreigner, someone born far away or with a different background, or they might have a wedding abroad!

They will need a partner with whom they can travel or go on a spiritual journey with, or someone to philosophise with about what they’re learning or have gleaned.

Juno In The Tenth House
Marriage for those with Juno in the tenth could be beneficial to career matters.

A partner could help in work, improve their social standing or the way the person is perceived and s break-up could affect career matters.

Alternatively, the person could be wedded to their work!

Juno In The Eleventh House
The person with Juno in the eleventh house could marry a friend or have a strong sense of friendship develop after marriage. They could be very involved in a social cause or activity, and the relationship might be based upon a shared vision. These people are likely to value freedom in marriage.

Juno In The Twelfth House
With Juno in the twelfth house marriage could feel like a bit of a non-entity!

The marriage and commitment asteroid sits in a bit of a blind spot.

Or there could be a karmic quality to relationships, a feeling of destiny or significance in a marriage union.

Suffering and sacrifice could be involved, helping and supporting the partner, or perhaps the native could play the part of the victim in marriage.

Juno and Apollo - Commitment and Worship in Astrology

By Smart Youngster

I write about asteroids but only about those who seem to be relevant. I personally do not agree with the huge number of asteroids and their relevance in astrology. So, there are few as per observation that actually work. Juno and Apollo are two of them. Many people associate Juno with marriage. I believe marriage is not the word. The word is commitment. Juno represents the 7th house of relationships and contracts. It represents the zodiac sign of Libra of partnerships and contracts. It is a balancing asteroid. Juno in the zodiac sign of Libra is most comfortable and 7th house is the own house of this asteroid.

However, it doesn't become irrelevant in other houses or signs. Just like other planets and signs. People start assuming Juno represents marriage and start calculating synastry based on it. Actually, Juno only stands for commitment and partnership. It only strives for balance and harmony as it did in Greek mythology. Therefore, let's take a look at the combination of Juno and the house/signs.

Juno in the first house or Aries will show commitment to self, looks, body, drive and ego.

Juno in the second house or Taurus will show commitment to self-worth, financial security and wealth.

Juno in the third house or Gemini will show commitment to siblings and writing, short-travel, communication.

Juno in the fourth house or Cancer will show commitment to mother, family, home and emotions.

Juno in the fifth house or Leo will show commitment to fame, stage, creativity, fun, children and grandeur.

Juno in the sixth house or Virgo will show commitment to work, animals, environment, analysis and health, routine.

Juno in the seventh house or Libra will show commitment to commitment, partnerships, marriage, contracts and peace-making, justice, equality and rights.

Juno in the eight house or Scorpio will show commitment to sex, occult, spying endeavors, psychology, parapsychology, accumulation of wealth, addictions, deep research, strategy, other people's money, deep psychological bonds and inheritance.

Juno in the ninth house or Sagittarius will show commitment to religion, travel, education, teaching, father, teacher, adventure and god.

Juno in the tenth house or Capricorn will show commitment to career, reputation, public position, building business, leadership, traditions and success.

Juno in the eleventh house or Aquarius will show commitment to a cause, team, innovations, activism and breaking the norms, rebellion, research, uniqueness.

Juno in the twelfth house or Pisces will show commitment to spirituality, higher-consciousness, psychic abilities, elderly people, humanity, universe, sacrifice, morals, ethics and charity, fantasy, imaginations along with the image of the "Ideal".

Juno doesn't show us the qualities of our spouse, it shows us the qualities that are our own and to which we feel "committed". Therefore, when we see these qualities in the other person, we have our commitment to that person. We seek companions who will share our "commitment" to our cause. Hence, Juno makes the ideal wife or partner to the person who vibrates on the same wavelength. For a man, Juno is the commitment he has for his cause and what he seeks from his wife. For a woman, Juno is the commitment that she has and what she would admire in her husband.  For example, a man with Juno in Pisces would be highly committed to the qualities mentioned above in the article and he would expect his wife to be his partner or support system. On the other hand, a woman with Juno in Pisces would admire a man who displays commitment to higher consciousness, humanity etc. and would be willing to support him in these endeavors.

In synastry, Juno conjunctions mean, commitment to the cause of the planet and house. For example, if Juno conjuncts Venus in the fourth, then the Juno person will show relentless commitment to the Venus persons dream of building a luxurious "Venusian Home". Juno doesn't get along with Mars, partnership against self issues. In case, of other planets consider their qualities coming on the floor along with the house and sign.

A composite Juno represents real partnership and commitment. Therefore, it should be ideally in 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th house. The 1st, 3rd, 8th and 12th are not recommended.  The couple with Juno in the first is more focused on their own-selves than the partnership.

Apollo- The Sun God of The Greeks
Apollo means the light or the pure. In Greek mythology, Apollo is the son of Jupiter or Zeus. He has a very dark side where his prophecies and wrath come true and a bright side which shows his love for music. Coming to astrology, my observation has shown people with Apollo in the first house tend to be good looking with a bright aura. They also possess talent of poetry, music, dancing and acting. Apollo gives refinement, class, dignity and intelligence along with talents. But he also gives a lot of pride and to some extent vanity. People with a first house Apollo like to obeyed. They are often head-turners and look like a royalty.

The Charming and Powerful Apollo

Apollo in the fourth or conjunct IC or in the sign of Cancer are the star of the family, homeland, mother, maternal family or rule the real-estate business. They can be local musicians, actors who are famous in their homeland.

Apollo in the Seventh, conjunct Desc, or in the sign of Libra are the popular heartthrob or babe. These people are the experts of romance and charm any individual they want. Besides, this they are lucky in relationships and attract partners with the star quality.

Apollo in the 10th, conjunct MC, or in the sign of Capricorn are the popular stars or leaders. They either have many academy awards or Golden globes to their credit or will run the best music, film company in the world. If not today, then with sensible aspects to Apollo they will get there. These people are thoroughly professional and build professional empires. An example would be Walt Disney.

Apollo in the second house/taurus means talents used for getting money and security. These people are artists for money and gain reputation for being "wealthy artists".

Apollo in the third house/gemini is quite comfortable, such people become "eminent poets". They are famous bloggers who blog mostly about music, theater and other performing arts. They are famous lyrics writers as well.

Apollo in the fifth house/Leo is one of the best placements if you are looking for a career in acting and music. This Apollo sets stage on fire through a legendary performance. People born with this placement have the flair, flamboyance, pompousness and absolute drama plus vanity. They are famous and a royalty with no doubt.

Apollo in the sixth house/virgo is the uncomfortable Apollo. In this house, the royalty is more charitable, works with the people and sings in the office. These are bathroom singers, office poets and writers. They work as singers, poets and writers for charity organizations. Their work is for the needy.  Apollo is not exactly happy here.

Apollo in the eight house/scorpiohe intense singer, poet and writer. People with these placements rise to fame through their passionate singing, poems and writing. This Apollo also displays the negative side which is of terror, death and evil prophecies.

Apollo in the ninth/Sagittarius is the one who sings devotional songs. He composes poems and writes books related to God and religion. He travels to understand foreign culture, literature and religions. He shines in foreign lands and becomes a known writer or philosopher.

Apollo in the eleventh/Aquarius is the one who is unconventional singer, sportsman, actor or writer who creates his own empire. He is bohemian, hippie or the initiator of a rebellious movement who inspires people through his works.

Apollo in the 12th/pisces is the artist who never takes money. He is the one who looks divine and runs charitable organization. He sings, acts, writes solely for the purpose of helping the old and needy. He shines with divine wisdom, connecting to the other world.

Duad in Relationship and Family

This great method is another gem you need to take into account when assessing compatibility charts.

Duads are twelve 2.5 degree segments of a zodiac sign.

Each duad starts with the zodiac sign and then progresses through each of the following signs in order.

E.g. if the zodiac sign is Sagittarius, then the first 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Sagittarius duad of Sagittarius, the second 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Capricorn duad of Sagittarius, the third 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Aquarius duad of Sagittarius .. and so on.

The duad of the sign considerably affects the way the sign works.

For example: the duad of your Ascendant will colour the qualities of the Ascendant and the way you use your ascendant sign.

E.g. if someone has the Cancer duad of Sagittarius rising they will use the Sagittarian energy quite differently to someone who has the Scorpio duad of Sagittarius rising.

They will even look quite different.

Both will present a more “watery” feel than Sagittarius Ascendant normally does.

The duads show your instinctive attraction towards a person.

The reason why is because these zodiac signs run through the family genes, the person will also attract and be attracted to non-family members with the Sun, Moon, Angles or Nodes in these signs.

Therefore: people frequently marry people who fit this criteria.

For a woman the duads of your Sun, Moon, Mars, Ascendant and Nodes are usually the main significators of attraction to the opposite sex.

E.g. if a woman has her Sun in Cancer in the Libra duad, she will be instinctively drawn to Libran men, or, to a lesser extent, people with the Moon, Mars, Angles or North Node in Libra.

For a man, the duads of your Sun, Moon, Venus, Ascendant and Nodes are the main significators of attraction towards the opposite sex.

E.g. if a man has his Moon in Taurus in the Aries duad his instincts will draw him to women with the Moon or Venus in Aries, or to a lesser extent, the Sun, Angles or Nodes in that sign.

ATTRACTION:

A woman will find a man sexy if he has Mars in the same sign as her Mars duad.

E.g. a woman whose Mars is at 1°39' Virgo will have Mars in the Virgo duad, so she is likely to find men with Mars in Virgo sexy.

A man will find a woman sexy if she has her Venus or Moon in the same sign as his Venus or Moon duad.

E.g. a man with his Venus at 16°23' Libra in the Aries duad will find women with Venus in Aries quite beautiful.

He will also like women with the Moon in Aries.

The Nodes are important for emotional connection between people.

These connections show very strongly in marriage and family charts.

E.g. a person with the North Node at 4°58' Taurus in the Gemini duad, will be drawn to those who carry Gemini in their Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC and/or Vertex.

This may indicate a soul connection.

These signs will also run through the family.

If someone does not have the zodiac sign or duads that your genetic patterning requires, there is less likely to be any deep, instinctual level of attraction.

You may like or dislike them according to the synastry of their chart and yours, but there is not the “kick” that starts a relationship.

Therefore: in relationship and synastry charts, the duads are the first step in assessing whether someone will be attracted to another.

Duads in relationships and family

Duads are twelve 2.5 degree segments of a zodiac sign. Each duad starts with the zodiac sign and then progresses through each of the following signs in order. E.g. If the zodiac sign is Sagittarius, then the first 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Sagittarius duad of Sagittarius, the second 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Capricorn duad of Sagittarius, the third 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Aquarius duad of Sagittarius .. and so on.  (Click to see Duad Table )
There is a second kind of division where the 1st dwad of any sign is the Aries dwad, the 2nd is the Taurus dwad .. and so on.  These are easy to calculate on a computer because they are the 12th harmonic chart.
(See article on calculating duads and a little duad calculator  in The duad System menu).
For the sake of convenience I call the first type of division ‘duads’ and the second type of division ‘dwads’.
SUBRULER
This can be taken further. The person who has the Cancer duad of Sagittarius rising will have the ruler of Cancer, the Moon, as the sub-ruler of the Ascendant. The position of the Moon and its aspects would be important, particularly if the Moon aspects Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, or aspects the Ascendant itself.
SIGN- HOUSE:
The zodiac sign that is the same as the duad and the house it rules will also be important. If someone has the Scorpio duad of Sagittarius rising, then it is likely that the 12th house is ruled by the sign Scorpio and this increases the importance of that house.
The duads are important for all planetary and angle placements and particularly important for the Sun, Moon, Moon’s Nodes , Ascendant-Descendant, MC-IC , Vertex– antiVertex , angular planets and the ruling planet.
In my research on this system I found that these positions also described planets and angles in the charts of parents, grandparents and other members of the family. For example:
A mother may have the Sun in the sign Gemini, her child may have the Sun in the Gemini duad of any sign. This child may have a child with the Sun in the 3rd (Gemini) dwad of a sign.
Taking this back a generation— you can have the mother with her Sun in Gemini in the Scorpio duad (12.5-15 degrees of Gemini). Her father may have the Sun in Scorpio. This duad is the 6th (Virgo) dwad of Gemini, so her mother may have the Sun in Virgo, And/or one of her other children may have the Sun in Virgo.
The Sun, Moon, angles and Nodes can be interchangeable (particularly the Ascendant – Moon and Sun-MC) so a person can have the Moon in the same sign as a parent’s Sun’s duad, or the Ascendant in the same sign as the mother’s Moon’s duad, and so on ….
In a family a parent or child may have their Sun conjunct the other’s MC or IC, giving a very strong tie between these two people. There is also a particularly strong correlation between the duad of a parent’s Sun and the child’s MC or IC or vice versa.
I have found there is a consistent and easily traceable connection between the position of the planets and angles in zodiac signs and duads from generation to generation. Also, there is often a strong affinity between the people who carried this sign/duad flow in the different generations. E.g. a grandparent may have their Sun in Aquarius and the grandchild have their Sun in the Aquarius duad of Taurus. This will tend to give an attraction and a feeling of affinity between the two.
So: Zodiac signs their duads and dwads are an astrological map of  genetic inheritance within a family.

RELATIONSHIPS:

The duads show your instinctive attraction towards a person. The reason why is because these zodiac signs run through the family genes, the person will also attract and be attracted to non-family members with the Sun, Moon, Angles or Nodes in these signs. Therefore: People frequently marry people who fit this criteria.
For a woman the duads of your Sun, Moon, Mars, Ascendant and Nodes are usually the main significators of attraction to the opposite sex. E.g. if a woman has her Sun in Cancer in the Libra duad and the 4th duad (Cancer), she will be instinctively drawn to Libran and Cancerian men, or, to a lesser extent, people with the Moon, Mars, Angles or North Node in Libra or Cancer.
For a man, the duads of your Sun, Moon, Venus, Ascendant and Nodes are the main significators of attraction towards the opposite sex. E.g. if a man has his Moon in Taurus in the Taurus duad and 1st (Aries) duad of Taurus his instincts will draw him to women with the Moon or Venus in Taurus or Aries, or to a lesser extent, the Sun, Angles or Nodes in that sign.
SEXUAL ATTRACTION:
A woman will find a man sexy if he has Mars in the same sign as her Mars duad. E.g. a woman whose Mars is at 1Virgo39 will have Mars in the Virgo duad and 1st (Aries) dwad, so she is likely to find men with Mars in Virgo or Aries sexy.
A man will find a woman sexy if she has her Venus or Moon in the same sign as his Venus or Moon duad. E.g. a man with his Venus at 16Libra23 in the Aries duad and 7th (Libra) dwad of Libra will find women with Venus in Aries and Venus in Libra quite beautiful. He will also like women with the Moon in Aries or Libra.
The Nodes are important for emotional connection between people. These connections show very strongly in marriage and family charts. E.g. A person with the North Node at 4Taurus58 in the Gemini duad and 2nd (Taurus) dwad, will be drawn to those who carry Gemini and/or Taurus in their Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC and/or Vertex.

Calculating Duad and Dwad charts

CALCULATING THE DUAD CHART BY HAND OR WITH CALCULATOR

As each duad is a “mini sign” the 2½ degrees it covers can be converted into the 30 degrees of a normal zodiac sign and make a whole new duad chart. It is relatively simple to calculate the duad zodiac degree by taking the start of the duad degree away from the degree of the planet and then converting that degree into the zodiac degree within that duad.

For example: Adam’s natal Sun is 8Scorpio23. This is the Aquarius duad of Scorpio and that duad starts at 7.30° Scorpio

08.23 – 07.30 = 0.53

So Adam’s Sun duad is 0° 53’ into the Aquarius duad. Using a calculator that calculates in units of 60, you can multiply 0° 53’ x 12 and this will give you 10°.36’ Therefore Adam’s duad Sun is 10° 36’ of Aquarius.

You can follow the same method for all the other planets and angles in the chart to make up a duad chart.  The duad chart has the Ascendant in the same position as that of the natal chart,  but the MC and IC can be in any house in the duad chart.   Mercury and Venus can be anywhere in the duad chart, they don’t have to be close to the Sun.

Following this the dwad chart is quite easy to calculate as the planets and angles will be in the same degree as that of the duad chart, but usually in a different dwad sign.

DUAD CALCULATOR

Australian research astrologer Ray Murphy has been kind enough to design this little duad calculator for me.  All you have to do is put in the degree and sign of each planet and it will automatically calculate its duad position.  If you want to use it you will need to download it to your own computer, save it  and then open it.

DUADS PROGRAM

Highlight the planet then enter its degree and minute, then click its sign. Continue doing this until all planets and angles have been covered and then click the Calculate button under the DUADS column.   The program will automatically calculate the duad.

USING SOLAR FIRE DELUXE or SOLAR FIRE GOLD

Esoteric Technologies were kind enough to incorporate the calculation of duad charts in their program.

To calculate the duad chart, highlight the natal chart on the first page of Solar Fire, then go to the “Chart” menu, click Vedic and then Vedic D12 Dwadashama. Click OK. The computer will ask you if you want to use Vedic settings click NO and you will have your duad chart.

To calculate the dwad chart, go to the Chart menu on the top left hand side, then click ‘Harmonics, Transform..’ then click Harmonic Chart.  In the box above titled ‘Harmonic’ put in 12 and then click OK.  You then have the 12th harmonic chart, which is the dwad chart

Soulmate Indicators

Right People!  This is NOT meant to be a dissertation on the existence or otherwise of “soulmates” and yes, i know the term has become naff. Nor do i want to trigger any Love Zombie benders out there.
But the fact remains that although we meet a mad variety of people throughout our lives and many of them are, you know, nice or interesting – the soul zing link is rare.  That connection where your soul wakes up and you’re just BAM – instantly familiar and yourselves yet stimulated by the rapport is unbelievable.
So here follows a list of “soulmate indicators.” Some of them are super well known, others less known. The idea is to not geek out over one or two but wait till you see a whole lot of these indicators.  Some people are just all about Mars synastry – for some reason they turn us on even when it is essentially a fairly crap relationship out of bed. Others are Jupiter bonds – really enriching and intellectually broadening but not necessarily that soul zing.
To look up some of these, you will need to be familiar with the Extended Chart Selection on Astrodienst. It is at the bottom right.
And then you click on that to see this at the bottom –  your funky little window where you can enter the numbers of the asteroids you want to fling into your chart.
Those ones there are my faves at the moment btw: Eros, Psyche, Urania, Diana, Pandora, Hecate, Circe, Lust, Sappho, Lucretia, Bast and Pan.
ANYWAY: Soulmate Indicators. These all need to be pretty much exact or a few degrees out. Five max.
(1) Their chart and yours has full-on Saturn aspects. YES Saturn. Saturn is the Time Lord. People who are bound to meet have strong Saturn aspects between them. It lends an extra gravitas to the encounter. Both people immediately get that this is or could be a significant bond.  For instance Person A has Saturn on the Venus of Person B.
If you are not yet sure (and we are doing a whole few Hacks on Synastry etc later) how to compare charts, look to points with the same number or near by. AND seriously conjunctions are the easiest to spot AND the most potent.  So if your Saturn is 23 Gemini and the other person has Venus at 25 Gemini, that’s easy to spot and voila, a Saturn Venus karmic connection.
(2) Aspects to the North Node/South Node.  If the other person has Moon (in particular) Venus or Mars on your South Node, that’s meant to be the “we knew each other before” real deal. North Node? They pull you into your future, they’re like Destiny Muses.
(3) You meet during a big-time Eclipse that has relevance to both your charts AND when you bring it up, the Composite Chart, which is your charts blended together. Eg; the Eclipse was on your Sun – their Moon and the Composite Node.
(4) You have a Jupiter/Juno conjunction. Your Jupiter is on their Juno or vice versa. Voila the King and Queen of Heaven. Mars and Venus linkages are hot for chemistry but there are others more vital and stately.
(5) You have a Chariklo (asteroid 10199) Chiron synergy – Chiron is the magical, maverick healer and Chariklo is his Centaur wife. Again, don’t complicate this. Who cares if your Chariklo is sextile their Chiron by ten degrees. Go for conjunctions and as close as possible.
(6) You meet during a Pluto Venus transit. Pluto moves SO slowly that it’s pretty easy to work out what it is doing to your Venus via the Ephemerides.
(7) Their Eros in strong aspect to your Psyche or vice versa. BOTH for a super amazing past life flash recall. Eros is 433 and Psyche is 16.
(8) Slippery Alert: Neptune IS a soulmate indicator when it’s in aspect to Moon-Venus between charts but it is also the spell caster and sometimes a Neptune whammy can be a hell of a spell to come around from. So when you notice that you and another person have strong Neptune aspects between you, stay sober (maybe literally lol) and grounded. BUT…it’s another soul link indicator.
(9) Their inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) or Sun/Moon on your Angles. And vice versa obviously. So the Angles in a birth chart are the Ascendant, the IC (at the base), the Descendant (opposite the Ascendant) and the MC or Midheaven at the top.
Remember, anyone who you even consider RELEVANT is going to be making some traction in your chart – like you would have aspects between charts BUT when it’s a whole pile of things going OFF, you know you’re looking at a relationship or a potential relationship with deeper import.

Understanding Relationship Karma: The Sun in the Composite Astrology Chart

Sun Image Thumbnail
Relationship karma: we’ve all got it—with our lovers, spouses, kids, and siblings. Even business relationships can have a karmic lesson or agreement attached to them. Wouldn’t it be great to really understand the purpose of your connections and how you can better navigate the challenges you find there?
The composite astrological chart is a blueprint for a relationship. Though it can be interpreted like your own birth chart, the major difference is that it doesn’t change. It is what it is—so while we can change and evolve factors in our own natal charts, a relationship chart shows us elements that are always going to be present—good or bad.
The Sun in the composite chart is the planet, by house and sign placement, that shows the essence of the relationship. It is the fuel cell, the battery, the engine of the connection. The quality of the Sun shows what must be present in the relationship in order for it to continue functioning. Like putting the right kind of fuel into a car, you need to know about the Sun in order to keep the engine running. Obviously, this is important in terms of a relationship!
The Composite Sun Through the Signs/Houses
Read the description for both the sign and the house placement of your composite Sun. This will help you understand the essence of your relationship.
Sun in Aries/First House: The relationship is fueled by activity and fire. The essence is exploration and adventure. From the outside, the couple may appear very absorbed in each other and their own path, or they can look like the pair that is always off climbing mountains or sailing the seas. The union may feel like it is a deep and natural extension of the self. It must be dynamic, or it will die. If one person wants to stay at home and another wants to go play, they will have to come to some very conscious compromise in order to succeed.
Sun in Taurus/Second House: This couple will throw the best dinner parties, have a beautiful home, and likely have children, cats, and dogs. They may also have a huge credit card debt! The relationship is fueled by comfort, pleasure, physical affection, and stability. Partners need to stay alert to avoid getting into ruts and stagnant patterns, but this couple is very bonded and may find change or splitting up difficult (even if that is the best decision).
Sun in Gemini/Third House: The fuel of this union is variety, a lively interest in life, mental stimulation, and communication. This couple will likely have lots of friends, interests, and stay busy. They need to share interests and be able to try new things. They will likely be the ones who organize the block party—or at least initiate it—and keep tabs on the neighbors. They will need to make sure they don’t just talk at each other but actually listen.
Sun in Cancer/Fourth House: These folks come together to create home and family. Though it’s likely they will have children, they can also fulfill this desire through community and extended friends and family connections. They will need a stable home and to be nurturing and emotionally connected to each other. If you have a romantic relationship with a composite Sun in Cancer/Fourth House, be sure you are both on the same page about having children.
Sun in Leo/Fifth House: This couple is dynamic, interesting, and generous. They may have a bit of drama in their lives, will likely have a big circle of friends, and need to be recognized within their community. They need creativity, fun, and are also likely to want children. They need to truly admire each other and be admired by their friends.
Sun in Virgo/Sixth House: This union will need quiet and order, and each partner will need to have their meaningful causes and work. Their house may be a Zen temple: clean and restful. They’ll be health conscious and may also want to have animals around. The partners will need to respect each other’s work, spirituality, wisdom, and need for quiet. These people may not be the flashiest couple on the block, but they are the ones to whom others turn in times of trouble.
Sun in Libra/Seventh House: The fuel of this relationship is harmony, balance, and a fair contribution by each partner. This union will also likely have lots of friends and keep a beautiful home housing great art and comfy pillows. This couple needs to make decisions together, to gather their friends, and to find peace within the chaos of life. They typically will do a lot as a couple and be very aware of and focused on the well-being of their relationship.
Sun in Scorpio/Eighth House: This is a passionate union that needs sex, creativity, and a lot of emotional intimacy. Both partners will need to bring these elements to the table for the relationship to succeed. This Sun creates the most possibility for jealousy and power struggles within the relationship but also the deepest, most passionate connections.
Sun in Sagittarius/Ninth House: This couple needs fun! They will travel together, explore different cultures and the world—through food, philosophies, spiritual inquiry, art, or whatever interests them. These partners will need to be open to movement and constant, inspiring stimulation. It won’t survive routine and obsessive security needs.
Sun in Capricorn/Tenth House: These partners too will have an elegant home, want to both have their careers and raise children, and will be pillars of their community. Others will trust their wisdom and counsel. The relationship is fueled by the pursuit of integrity and excellence, but it needs a good dose of wit and earthy sexuality as well. If they get too caught up in material success, they may become rigid, and the relationship could turn into an empty shell.
Sun in Aquarius/Eleventh House: This composite Sun is the most likely to try an unconventional relationship, whether that be long-distance, polyamorous, or perhaps both couples keeping their own homes. They will be great at parties—good conversationalists and listeners, but they might not have a lot of close friends as a couple. They need the freedom to reinvent themselves over time; stagnation or rigidity will wreck this union.
Sun in Pisces/Twelfth House: This coupling is the most in need of spiritual congruity. The relationship is fueled by compassion, spiritual connection, creativity, and emotion. Here you might find partners deeply embedded in a humanitarian cause or closely tied to a spiritual path. They might not be the most passionate, but they may write each other songs or read poetry in bed.
