The Earth Signs

Sure You Know Your Sun Sign...

But do you know your Earth Sign?

The following content comes from the innovative and leading edge treatise, The Sun at the Center, by Philip Sedgwick, available by download from the site's store. This is virtually the only interpretive book on Earth concerning heliocentric, or Sun-centered astrology.

Simply, the Earth sign stands opposite the Sun in longitude - exact to the degree, minute and second, whether seen geocentrically or heliocentrically. How can this critical polarity be ignored, especially given the fact we stand upon Earth? Take your own firm stand on terra firma! Read onward in the journey to rediscover the lost Earth.

Aries Earth (Libra Sun)

Lesson - The lesson involved in the Arien Earthling exists in the process of self-actualization. The individual must come to a full sense of self to allow functional relationships with others. These beings are highly interactive and not necessarily with other beings. Interaction at this Earth level may manifest through a direct confrontation or exchange with a person and it may also result with a thing or a principle. The interaction is secondary to the level of validation which they seek. A sense of self-worth independent of others must result for assertiveness to be complete. At some point, the individual will realize that with or without people, places and things the self remains intact. Until this process is understood, the soul continues to establish faulty interactions to create alienation, isolation and perceived rejection. This is all done in the interest of self-contained validation.

Legacy - Upon completion of self-realization and a self-contained sense of being free from the need of input from others, relatability becomes a primary dynamic in the individual’s life. Interaction begins to provide a mechanism of on-going support for the individual as the person teaches others to recognize that which is self-disguised within their beings. This discipline can be taught by the Aries Earth with incredible compassion for the crisis of self-identity. The individual retains the ability to interact in a non-involved manner, allowing truth and personal integrity to prevail above all else.

Taurus Earth (Scorpio Sun)

Lesson - Many presume that the Earth rules Taurus. Perhaps one would then assume that the Earth in home territory would maintain a certain comfort or reliability in this Sign/Planet relationship. Perhaps that is true and only at the legacy level. These souls drop themselves into a body and begin an immediate struggle to learn absolute (Divine) worth without extorting, exploiting or destroying the value of the high worth item. The physical preoccupies the primal Taurus Earth mind, blinding all objectivity of what truly is important. Priority systems must be established, the truth told and motivations revealed. This all tends to combine the positive aspects of the lessons to lead to the luxury of the legacy. However, it is critical that the learning process for this Earthly student include doing his or her own home work with no ruses.

Legacy - Once optimized, these Earthlings quickly recognize the worth and value of a person, place or thing. They are challenged by intrinsic worth and seek to polish raw materials to a brilliant luster. These individuals can become great motivators. This is often achieved through agitation and playing a negative role to produce a positive effect. Negativity is only used as a transformative.

Gemini Earth (Sagittarius Sun)

Lesson - This sign axis must learn to deal with an intellectually intense duality that teaches that the more consideration and objectivity, the greater the focus. These people perceive this postulate to be in direct contradiction to the basic programming of the mind. The blinders must be removed and a willingness to view polar opposition must result. A mental overload exists until the individual recognizes that missed objectives result from the inability to adjust or correct a course once in motion. Long range effects appear in little steps. As a Chinese proverb states, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” Such is the case for the Gemini Earth. Steps along the way allow for reconsideration, revision and resolutions to be refined without interruption to the natural direction.

Legacy - Once in a mode of receptivity and diversification, the Gemini Earth individual becomes one of the most directed and consistent contemplators on the planet. The lesson taught by these people is that there is no absolute way to get there. Many paths exist between here and there. Correction is taught as a positive attribute and not as an indicator of something thought or done incorrectly.

Cancer Earth (Capricorn Sun)

Lesson - Mother Earth herself reaches the closest point of approach (perihelion) to the Sun in Cancer. The Cancer Earth contains the need to respond to the most direct sunlight and illumination of all the Earth placements. Direct and undisputed contact with the nurturing action is maintained and requires useful, non-interfering incorporation. Domination tendencies must convert into a support mechanism. Those with this Earth must learn about responsibilities and that each person owns a different sense of responsibility. This realization precludes being disappointed in one’s offspring (anyone to whom the Cancer Earth becomes attached) and releases guilt, expectation and irritation. The pursuit of Earth dictates the need to frolic in the Sun. The ability to enjoy and align with nature establishes contact with the base of Earth. This eliminates an inability to appreciate beauty as it exists. This individual must reject cynicism in the soul to enable the heart to open.

Legacy - Cancer Earth people are among the most sensitive and caring upon the planet. They demonstrate this clearly when actualized in being through support and love given freely and without consideration of reaction or rejection. Love is given without expectation and the individual teaches how to love safely and responsibly without interrupting the flow of another person’s development.

Leo Earth (Aquarius Sun)

Lesson - The development of the personality in an ego sense is the first portion of this soul’s lesson. The ego must then evolve into a unique sense of self-contained individuality which functions with out the need to compare the self to others. Confidence is the quality which stimulates the beginning of the work leading directly into the legacy. The lesson, though, is a tough one and contains intense periods of variation in self-esteem. Once the belief in and knowledge of one’s own internal strength sets in, these people begin an active campaign leading others into awareness of themselves.

Legacy - The Leonine Earthlings strive to lead others in their realm to realize the need for a self-contained sense of individuality. They teach others how to own one’s being and allow creative self- expression to flourish. The Leo Earth people discourage others from cloning or engaging in emulation techniques that establish superficial attachments to the projected qualities of another individual. These people stress uniqueness and strive to promote the confidence of everyone they encounter. This inspirational ability of the Leo Earth may manifest in both direct and indirect means of interaction with others. Personal contact is not necessary for the process to occur.

Virgo Earth (Pisces Sun)

Lesson - Virgo Earthlings appear on the planet to develop an aware ness of the principles of integration on a minute level. Overall knowledge of the system seems to exist in these beings. A need for understanding the detailed simplicity of life’s process must follow. Discipline becomes a key factor in the schooling of the Virgoan Earth as resistance to commitment and structure is taken for granted. This discipline, once implemented, allows these individuals to set into motion the plans, creative concepts and intuitive insights which flash through the mind. Discipline strives to eliminate the inability often experienced in prioritizing life’s endeavors. The organized for mats of discipline yield the ability to select an appropriate creative pursuit to manifest.

Legacy - The legacy of the Virgo Earth resides within the ability to adjust to a flowing system of discipline. These individuals are then capable of presenting to others the synthesis of the subtle and the gross, the sacred and the profane and the parts and the wholes.

Libra Earth (Aries Sun)

Lesson - At one level it appears that these people exist solely for the purpose of establishing identity of the self at the soul’s core. The lesson adds a deeper aspect to the identity quest. It becomes imperative for these individuals to learn the active dynamic of interfacing with others on the planet. Self-assertion must be conducted in such a way as not to interfere with the will and identities of others.

Legacy - Once polarized, these individuals leave behind the lesson of interaction without compromise. The cultivation of the sense of self is a demonstrated blending with an ability to be and to let others be. Interference and imposition diminishes creating a clear approach in human relationship.

Scorpio Earth (Taurus Sun)

Lesson - The drive to transform need presents the biggest challenge of this Earth/Sun polarity. Attachment and possession must be over come. Learning how to have and hold, and how the have/hold principle differs from owning/possessing, creates the crisis of reorientation. Scorpio Earth souls must learn to experience their feelings, especially feelings of material resentment, jealousy and emotional bondage. An innate understanding of the natural value of human resources must learned. This resource of human potential must be understood from the standpoint of using people, not abusing people. Should this lesson about human resource not be learned, the Taurean tendencies only subvert deeper. The subverted tendencies appear through the use of others in a negative manner, creating a master/slave relationship.

Legacy - Once cultivated, these seekers become the masters of manipulating others into positive, creative spaces of existence. An understanding of when to intervene and when to not intervene becomes inherent in one’s nature. These individuals may become compulsive, not being able to see waste of a mind or creative potential. They constantly push, shove and work to apply every available resource. A unique ability to invest in the resources of others also evolves. True levels of abundance and prosperity consciousness can and must be taught.

Sagittarius Earth (Gemini Sun)

Lesson - These Earthlings must learn that focus does not rule out necessary pursuits. They sense that there is a lack of freedom of choice when, in fact, a simple level of mental discrimination strives to present choices. Short range planning must be relinquished to the long range projection. Distraction must yield to well disciplined, conscious direction. Simplification must be produced to gain distance, direction and result. Yet, the need to remain responsive to the subtleness of Divine Signaling is necessary so that single mindedness and dogma does not result.

Legacy - The Sagittarius Earth spirit strives to leave behind a sense of direction stemming from their abilities to focus. A directed philosophy results from knowing which needs to pursue and which not. Vicarious learning must be encouraged to prevent redundancy of the human consciousness effort. The value of thoughts and knowing is taught to others.

Capricorn Earth (Cancer Sun)

Lesson - The Capricorn Earth strives to generate an autonomous sense of self which can only be derived from a strong sense of support and foundation. This support initially extends from external sources and the individual resists receiving support (based upon a point of view that he or she renders support only). This unilateral perception must be terminated for the person to evolve to the fullest. Under standing the bidirectional nature of support assists these people in growth. The awareness of assumable responsibility, to take and not to take, must be assimilated.

Legacy - With the Cancer side understood and synthesized, the Capricorn Earth provides others with a quiet, parental type of support which encourages assuming total responsibility for the self; no more and no less. Sharing of support encourages cooperative interactions on all levels of the creative/receptive axis.

Aquarius Earth (Leo Sun)

Lesson - Within the natural Leo association to the Sun this axis assumes a stronger natural emphasis. The goal of the actualized ego bears the fulfillment of humanity, a lesson easier stated than learned. Overcoming the guru syndrome requires great attention and per severance to cause. One must be conscious not to accept unwarranted praise and at the same time remain accepting of praise which is valid. Avoidance of idle flattery and yes-type followers must be included in the growth. Total identity as a unique and persistent individual cultivates some necessary isolationism for the growth process. Courage and commitment of the self requires more effort here than in any other case. One must obtain a strong sense of self that is referenced only to the self. This self referencing frees the ego from superiority/inferiority dynamics.

Legacy - Once actualized, these individuals strive to teach everyone to be who they happen to be and to become that which they strive to be. Courage and commitment are taught hand in hand with respect for the being that one happens to be. The creative process is accentuated, allowing them to exercise a purposeful lead in humanity. A choice must also be taught. That choice is the ability to help humanity from a non-involved point of view or from direct and inclusive involvement. A good example is a hermit who would pray over the dominion of humanity versus the leader who works with a group in the interest of evolution. The difficult choice is individual and must not be transferred to any other entity or oracle.

Pisces Earth (Virgo Sun)

Lesson - To flow in the dimension of experience creates the major lessons of evolvement for these Earthlings. When the Pisces Earth encounters a dynamic of growth, the tendency is to compartmentalize the awareness in an intellectual or academic manner. This is fine as far as the process is understood. The only drawback to this system comes from the integration of the experience. To understand experientially creates a conflict for this sign. Once an experience is assimilated, the tendency becomes to translate the experience in a logical or mnemonic manner. On many levels of experience this is impossible, as no words can formulate a concise enough picture to represent the occurrence. Thus, the individual falls in the position of knowing and not being able to explain. The creative process builds up momentum from such a response, allowing the individual to be manipulated by perplexity into realizing an unrecognized aspect of internal ingenuity. Cognitive dissonance becomes the well known “A-ha!” of under standing.

Legacy - The Pisces Earth person knows how to translate inexplicable experiences into a system of reference, provided that when another person flows into the same stream of consciousness the event will be understood for what it is. A Taoist teaching method arises, allowing great levels of individual creativity to be tapped without compromising the process of logic, yet not allowing the mental to interfere with the flow of creativity. An extremely delicate balance of co-existence emerges guiding the person experientially and logically through all events in life. This balance utilizes every aspect of involvement in life to ascertain more of the process of growth and evolution.

Want more on Heliocentric Astrology?

Below are the integration considerations of the Earth and Moon appearing in the same place from the Sun's point of view. Regardless of one's geocentric lunar placement, seen from the Sun, a conjunction between Earth and Moon results.

Aries Earth/Moon - The nurturing sought by these people asks, somewhat apologetically, for acceptance of the self as is. Acceptance of the self when it is the new, improved version is not sufficient. These people require unconditional love and support for the identity they have right now. Once accepted, these individuals become the best givers in the heliocentric zodiac.

Taurus Earth/Moon - This combination needs support for self- worth. The individuals must be supported for what they are, not what they have, or what they can create with their own intrinsic resources. The value of personal attributes is paramount as is the need for support of the individual’s ability to manifest positive activity and make life happen with ease.

Gemini Earth/Moon - These beings seek support for the attribute of listening. Their purpose of the lifetime requires objective consideration of external input (without that input seemingly invalidating the individual). Support for changing the mind, shifting direction, and changing horses mid-stream is needed.

Cancer Earth/Moon - This is perhaps the most intense of the Earth/ Moon systems. These individuals need support to have the space to cry, laugh, feel and not worry. Rest comes through emotional support and the relinquishment of the need to maintain control. Although resistance is natural when confronted with support, acceptance of support bears great rewards in all aspects of life, most especially the professional realm.

Leo Earth/Moon - To be an altruist and to dedicate one’s life to humanity, much internal strength is prerequisite. Thus, these people require ego support, confidence building and listening to, especially for their most radical and unusual ideas. They need to shine and be emotionally polished by their support group to the brilliant personality luster which results when purpose is pursued.

Virgo Earth/Moon - Support for order without criticism is required by these individuals. It is a tricky balance to integrate the creative and the logical. Encouragement to see the details, facts and processes required to fulfill the fantasy must be supported for these Earthlings. This provides the understanding required to follow inspiration from concept through to completion.

Libra Earth/Moon - These people require support for relating with others on an equal, cooperative level. To support this effort, relation ships with peers become the starting block. Relating above or below the individual’s self-perceived status only serves to complicate issues of fairness. Equality comes from willing giving. To support these people, compliment all externalized generous efforts they perform and establish a system of cooperative giving by asking and receiving.

Scorpio Earth/Moon - Money is not power, nor does money ensure good sexual relationships. These people require support for intense, emotional involvement without external distractions like food, money and things. Performance must be discouraged. Fullness of being needs encouragement. Telling such individuals that they are worthy even if they have nothing takes a step towards the initially incomprehensible and seeds the needed message.

Sagittarius Earth/Moon - Support for the validity of one’s ideas is required. These individuals must teach, in their own way, but cannot deliver this dharma without a realization that their ideas are valid, original and important. Support for thinking (especially out loud or on paper) provides the baseline for allowing acceptance of the importance of the individual’s intelligence.

Capricorn Earth/Moon - Freedom from the responsibility of others sets the scene for support with these Earthlings. Allowing for the Ultimate acceptance of responsibility solicits support. That responsibility results when one accepts conditions in life completely free from what others caused, needed or obliged the individual to do. Seeking and consciously asking for support is best.

Aquarius Earth/Moon - Originality of the human model requires validation to make this placement reach optimum performance. To inspire this person serves everyone. Ego is a temporary condition in which self-ness emerges. It is not to be feared nor denied; ego is intended to be supported fully and completely. “Be like the Sun at midday,” as the I Ching points out. Shine on, fully and completely.

Pisces Earth/Moon - Support for openness to the unseen, unknown and the non-tangible best encourages these individuals into fullness. An ethereal sense mutes the obsession with logic into a creative balance which allows for talent to emerge. This emergence takes ideas and gives them abstract form which ultimately yields a valid, logical result.

Vertex

VERTEX: The Vertex has delineation notes for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th houses only and does not appear to be considered as worthy of house delineation in any other houses. Delineation by sign still applies. There will be times when the vertex falls in other houses.

VERTEX IN THE FIFTH HOUSE:
You have a childlike orientation, in all of its manifestations, toward relationships on an internal level. That implicit trust, or perhaps naivete, that was instilled in our childhood persists far into maturity. The concomitant explosions and occasional tantrums when these constructs are violated also accompany this position. You have a need for fun, creativity, and excitement in a committed relationship, no matter how many years it has endured. You often have deep fears, typical of children, of abandonment, as well as a need for universal acceptance, no matter how you act, which you need your partner to respect and nurture, rather than rebuke, especially in adulthood.

VERTEX IN THE SIXTH HOUSE
You have an attitude of duty, obligation and sacrifice when it comes to heartfelt interactions. Here we often find associations unconsciously based on a medical or religious model of service and sometimes even sainthood. The negative side is the tendency to become hypochondriacal or martyristic to get the love so desperately wanted. There is a need for others to appreciate the sincerity of your intentions, to the daily tasks you execute in a conscientious and caring way and for others to know that your actions, no matter how routine they may seem, are based on devoted love.

VERTEX IN THE SEVENTH: The Vertex in the seventh house is the classic position for those who are always in a partnership of one kind or another (if only in our heads), desperately seeking one, or have decided that it isn't worth the risk since our expectations will never be met. This position indicates a sense that we are not really complete unless we are intimately involved with someone. On some levels there is an irrational fear of ending up alone. The dark side is that you can get highly self-righteous about acceptable modes of behaviour in interacting with others and thereby alienate the very people you long for. Your parental role model was less than secure in your subconscious perceptions, though it may seem fine on an external level.

VERTEX IN THE EIGHTH HOUSE. Indicates an internal yearning for an inseparable union with and total commitment from another, come what may. This need is so intense that we may fantasise all manner of unspeakable actions and reactions if the final dream, once attained, is even threatened. The dark side is that when the reality of our partner does not fit this model (and it rarely does totally) we have a difficult time adjusting if faced with a breach of contract of any sort. Once badly hurt there is a tendency to become jaded and guarded in future relationships, thereby passing up the opportunity to explore interactions which might just fulfil out intense needs perfectly.

VERTEX IN ARIES: The planetary placement of the Vertex reflects the needs and desires that we secretly yearn to have satisfied in a relationship with another.
The Vertex in Aries indicates a deep desire for raw, unbridled passion. The internal drama which people experience involves an obsessive lust for true adventure and excitement, exploring new territories in a hell-bent and determined way to get what they are driven toward, no matter what the consequences to others in their lives. There is an extreme repulsion for routine of any sort when it comes to intimacy. Here we have a true pioneer as far as sexuality goes - there is always something greener as the phrase goes. If you dare to jump behind this one's saddle, whether it is on a horse or a harley, it's important that you have boundless energy and are a bit headstrong yourself. If you fit this model your partner will never seek "strange" elsewhere.

VERTEX IN TAURUS
You have a sensual love of natural resources and a lust for precious possessions. A dreamy walk through the forest becomes a fantasy of acquiring it and moulding a legacy from it, no matter how modest or grand. Your inner senses are ignited by interacting with and transforming material things in an artistic, dignified, and elegant way.

VERTEX IN GEMINI
You have an all consuming need to communicate with your partner. Here, intimacy is equated with communication on a daily basis, whether the conversation involves daily matters or deep issues of a psychological or spiritual nature. If your partner is prone to innuendo and subtle gestures you will not notice, you require that communication be verbal and straight to the point.

VERTEX IN CANCER: In cancer we have a vertex that represents a dream for an almost womblike environment that shuts out all discordant noise or interference from the outside. There are very deep desires regarding the ideal structure or family and home life. When you do commit yourself in a relationship you are really deeply committed and if you feel that your partner is not similarly serious then you will strike out at them in defence. Perhaps your expectations of others are unrealistic and are based on your own feelings of insecurity.

VERTEX IN LEO
There is a regal need to be recognised for one's innate superiority on all levels. As such, this placement reflects the fantasies of a child who works incredibly hard to be praised and loved. The desire to be cherished and almost worshiped is intrinsic, and the truth is that such approbation might well be deserved. You bestow a loyal commitment on your partners and in your eyes they can do no wrong.

VERTEX IN VIRGO:
The purity of intention in Virgo as far as intimacy goes is unrivalled. The sub-conscious conjures images of the high priest or priestess, a union which will take one to ultimate salvation or spiritual initiation, based on a shared ideal of dedication and service. There is a fantasy of joining with someone who has unique psychic and/or healing powers and the focus is on the practical work which will make everything all right. If your love has the vertex in Virgo you must be sure of your innate talents and have a good plan as to how you can make good use of them to serve your mate and mankind at the same time.

VERTEX IN LIBRA: In Libra we find a vertex that longs for a union of souls that is based on a model of pure peace and justice. Images come to mind of a mythical life on Venus, the planet of love, where there is never a discordant beat between lovers, but rather, continual harmony even if played in the minor chords. Physical lust is certainly a necessary aspect of two beings eternally intertwined, but the platonic component far outweighs it in importance. If someone whom you are magnetically attracted to has this position, be stalwart and aggressive in your approach for his or her love, but always assume a non-combative attitude when matters of conflict arise.

VERTEX IN SCORPIO:
Positioned here, the vertex indicates a desire or continual need for feeling irresistible and irreplaceable on all levels of intimacy, whether spiritual, intellectual, emotional, or physical. From the fires of hell to the heights of heaven, the further and deeper the range of interaction this person can experience with another the more fulfilling. When you are involved with someone who has this placement, what you see is never what you get - there is always more than meets the eye. Prepare yourself for considerable intrigue, endless fascination and an interactive intensity that will challenge you to the maximum.

VERTEX IN SAGITTARIUS: The vertex in sagittarius reveals a person who dreams of the pinnacle of adventure when it comes to mating. The psyche yearns for being carried away to the ends of the earth or being exposed to every manner of religious and/or philosophical theory known to man and then some. The yearning is strong and really deep when it comes rarefied experiences of any sort. Encountering and wanting to join with these people demands that we always have an itinerary that will provide them with the maps to explore the roads that they have not yet travelled, to say nothing of the different worlds they have dreamed of but not yet experienced.

VERTEX IN CAPRICORN This indicates a searing need for the partner to understand and respect the trials and tribulations they have long endured, as well as the misunderstandings from others they have encountered throughout their lives. The ultimate union will have elements of societal status and power, but they will wield it in a way that has always been denied to them. If you happen to fall in love with someone who has this position, meet these needs and the sex will be beyond anything you ever imagined possible. It is important to be acutely aware of their highly attuned sensitivity, particularly in social situations. Always stand behind them through thick and thin in the role of the good and loving authoritative parent they never had.

VERTEX IN AQUARIUS. The vertex in Aquarius yearns for completion of itself through the highest ideal of friendship. Hidden in the inner recesses of this soul are desires for a union that will impact the world in an almost utopian sense. The dreams for ideal relationship are entirely alien if compared to conventional soap opera images. There is a yearning for each act of intimacy to reflect a conviction of how all relationships should be in order for the world to be a better place. If you feel a spark for this person there is no place for exhibitions of jealousy. Join them in their lofty dreams and you will have a companion for life.

VERTEX IN PISCES: You have an internal yearning to personally interact with humankind. Your unspoken concept of intimacy blends in an almost mystical way with a need to alleviate suffering, accompanied by an indescribable capacity for compassion. You can empathise with the tribulations of others. Your sexuality is often intense only because it is a natural part of human interaction and sometimes the only way to alleviate another's pain, however, briefly. There is a limit to how much you can put up with, after all you only human too.

Midheaven Signs and Career Choices

The Midheaven, MC (Medium Coeli)or 10th house cusp is one of the most important angles in the birth chart. The Midheaven traditionally indicates career, status, aim in life and aspirations.

It's important that you look at the sign on the cusp, its aspects...then, it’s ruling planet in the chart and sign this will give us great insights.

As far as relationships go, this would indirectly function on a persons "relationship" social status and the planets involved and aspected...

The Medium Coeli or Midheaven

The Medium Coeli (MC), or Midheaven as it is more popularly known, is at the top of the chart. It is the point further south in the zodiac. The Midheaven point is the cusp of the 10th house. The Midheaven represents your most exposed position, your public demeanor, and how you present yourself to the world at large. This position is associated with the career and with that for which you strive to achieve. Many planets in this sector may show that much of your activities receive attention. You get credit (or blame) for your actions.

It could be said that the Midheaven sign represents our life goal; the ascendant sign represents our way of achieving that goal, or our unconscious strategy for attaining it.

Whilst the Midheaven is traditionally thought of as indicating a goal in terms of career or working life, it is not confined to this type of goal, and can indicate very personal or spiritual goals too. The individual will identify with and admire the qualities of the sign on the Midheaven, whether or not they actually have those qualities themselves.

Midheaven Signs and Career Choices

When an astrologer offers career guidance to someone, the Midheaven is certainly not the only factor to be taken into consideration. We cannot look at a Midheaven sign and say "Oh yes, you need to go and become an accountant"! Looking at the Midheaven sign does give us an indication of the type of career the individual would *like* to have - although whether this is possible/practical would need to be assessed through a careful look at the rest of the natal chart in detail.

Bearing this in mind, let's take a brief look at the types of work and careers associated with each Midheaven sign:

Aries Midheaven: Requires freedom in a career, would not be well suited to strict routine. Noisy, dirty or dangerous environments are not a problem for this person. Strong spirit of enterprise means that this is a good placement for self-employment, although foolish impulsive risks may be taken. Typical career routes include electronics, mechanics, the armed forces, fitness instruction, engineering, self-employment in the IT industry.

Taurus Midheaven: Needs some kind of steady career path in order to function best. Irregular income is frightening. Open air careers appeal. Typical career routes include sports, horticulture or agriculture, financial management, food industry, accountancy, building, banking, singing, physiotherapy.

Gemini Midheaven: Communication is the key to a fulfilling career, but these people need a lot of variety and stimulation. Not overly ambitious. Typical career routes include sales, the media, writing, advertising, retailing, youth work, the hotel industry, interpreting/translation, teaching.

Cancer Midheaven: Requires some continuity in career, as there is a dislike of change. Shrewd business sense is either present or aspired to, but money is not the principle motivation in career. Typical career routes include nursing and the 'caring' professions, social work, restaurant trade, historian, architecture, child care industry.

Leo Midheaven: Likes to be the centre of attention in their career, but will not tolerate difficult conditions. Ambitious and financially motivated, although much happier when they have an emotional attachment to work too. Typical career routes include acting, performing, any artistic work, luxury trades, banking, fashion industry, medical profession, politics or local government, work with animals.

Virgo Midheaven: Tends to hide light behind a bushel. Work best as an 'assistant' rather than a 'leader', although will often be the real power behind a throne. Typical career routes include secretarial/personal assistant work, literary/publishing industry, administration or management of any kind, health club/leisure centre management, journalism, copywriting, psychology, the police, librarian, civil servant.

Libra Midheaven: Comfortable working conditions are a must, and this position is motivated by money. Peacemaker of the office. Example: Aspect to the Midheaven

Venus trine Midheaven

This configuration indicates continuation of the natives' careers and ambitions through the use of beauty, charm, and the social graces, which win the favor of people in important places. The harmony in their homes creates a favorable social atmosphere for furthering professional ambitions.

Performing artists with this aspect will achieve some recognition.

Mars trine Midheaven

This configuration strengthens the natives' ambitions and determination to rise to prominence in their careers. They are energetic and hard-working in their chosen fields. Thus by gaining the confidence of those in authority they win the means to provide a good domestic environment for themselves and their families.

Jupiter trine Midheaven

This configuration indicates a constructive attitude toward work which facilitates a rise to prominence in the native's chosen profession. His honesty and sincerity will gain the goodwill of people in positions of power, who in turn will help him further his ambitions. This aspect is especially favorable for a career in law or in the ministry.

Professional success ensures the wherewithal for a happy, secure domestic life. The natives love their families and have a positive attitude toward family members.

Uranus square Midheaven

This square indicates the natives' lack of ability to conform to professional or domestic routines. There is rebellion against authority - whether parents, an immediate superior, employers, or the government. The natives change jobs and residences frequently, and not always for sound or valid reasons.

There is also impatience with family responsabilities, and sometimes a tendency to use the home as a camping ground for the eccentric friends. The typical hippie pad is characteristic of this aspect.

Pluto square Midheaven

This square indicates a situation in which the desire to transform existing conditions can cause conflict with employers, immediate superiors, parents and families, constituted government authority, or landlords.

When the natives are at odds with their employers it is probably because they feel they know a better way of doing the job or because they want more power in the decision-making provess. When their revolutionary tendencies are directed against the government and social institutions, they can incur official disfavor.

If they are in positions of domestic or professional authority, they may display autocratic or dictatorial traits, which will usually cause disharmony.

Mercury square Midheaven

This square puts obstacles in the way of communication with the family, parents, landlord, and employer. It is especially difficult in professional matters, since good communication on the job is essential to success in any profession. The effect is stronger if the profession involves mental work or writing.

Venus Aspects In The Natal Chart

Venus aspects describe your relationships (in a general sense) more than you might think. Venus is the general significator for love and relationships in a natal horoscope. Through the different aspects with other points and planets, Venus is "colored", shapen and molded -- and so is your love life.

All planetary aspects from another point or planet to natal Venus have a particular signification for your love life. Below we will delineate all planetary aspects, but only in their purest form.

That is to say that we only delineate the planetary principles without the intervention of another (3rd or 4th or...) planet or body. In other words, we only blend TWO planetary principles, modified by the aspects.

Let's take a look.

Sun-Venus
The Sun and Venus can never be more than 48° apart, building only a conjunction, semi-sextile or semi-square. When one of these three aspects are exact, Venus beautifies the body (represented by the Sun), except when the conjunction is exact within 16' (orb no more than 0°16').

In some instances the outer appearance of the native becomes a focus point in the life of the native one way or the other. The native may have a big ego and be proud of him- or herself. The tight conjunction may denote a huge difficulty to find Mr. or Ms. Right. The native is too much in love with love.

The semi-sextile seems to bring or indicate early love experiences and often a happy youth.

The semi-square between the Sun and Venus may denote a distance between your lover (often due to work). The native may have a responsible job that takes lots of his or her time (and less time for love...).

Moon-Venus
All Venus aspects to the Moon make the native rather naive and emotionally fickle. There may be a need to be mothered. In many instances, any aspect between both points results in possessive behavior and the need to touch (except when the Moon squares or inconjuncts Venus that may show reluctancy and even aversion to touch the other).

Mercury-Venus
Both planets can never be more than 78° apart, only building a conjunction, semi-sextile, semi-square, sextile or a Quintile (72°). It brings quite some charm and quite often a beautiful voice too.

Venus aspects to Mercury are one of the most diplomatic combinations, detesting harsh arguments and disputes. The native is able to talk you into something. It may be a highly seductive aspect but it's NOT a sexual aspect at all. Sexual interests are lived in the head rather than experienced physically.

Venus-Mars
The sextile and trine aspects bring lots of charm (even more than the Mercury-Venus aspects). The native is perfectly able to look after him- or herself, especially when there is a conjunction between both planets.

The square and inconjunct both point to disagreements between men and women and may bring difficulties in the love life and/or marriage. Not all your love needs will be met. It may point to infidelity too (not always from the native, it may also be related to the partner).

The square aspect brings turbulent relationships. The expectations regarding the own love life run too high.

All Venus aspects to Mars denote the need for a lively and active relationship. You may easily feel bored and need a continuous "push" in your relationships to survive. Otherwise the relationship may become boring, resulting in infidelity or separation/divorce.

Venus-Jupiter
All natal Venus aspects to Jupiter, that is between Fortuna minor (Venus) and Fortuna Major (Jupiter), are considered positive.

However, with Jupiter there is a possibility to overdo, to exaggerate.

Anyway, it's a highly popular combination that makes the native well-known and popular, whatever the aspect. You easily admire other people AND, above all, your partner.

The square between Venus and Jupiter denotes a separation, eventually that the partner may die first. The native has to learn that each person is responsible for his or her own deeds.

Venus-Saturn
Venus and Saturn never blend well, in whatever aspect they are. Saturn is too cold and distant for Venus -- who enjoys company. So, even when Venus and Saturn are sextile or trine each other, expect quite some difficulties and especially restrictions in your love life.

The sextile and trine aspects (and in a minor way the conjunction) delay love but never deny it. Love only comes later in life (and in some cases very late!). You may be a very hard worker and a very responsible one too. Also, all Venus aspects to Saturn bring disappointing love experiences leaving you wonder if you will ever find Mr. or Ms. Right.

The square and opposition (and sometimes the conjunction too, depending on other aspects) bring bitter love experiences. You may feel or be rejected, feel inadequate. As a result it often happens that you start to build a wall that nobody can pull down anymore.

In many instances we have found that, whatever the aspect, with Venus aspects to Saturn, there may be a huge age difference between the partners and/or some severe sacrifices that have to be done. Love hurts when these planets blend together.

Also, the native with such an aspect is very willing to sacrifice his or her life for the partner too and will often feel obliged to help the other.

Whatever the aspect, both planets together never indicate a flamboyant love union. Instead, it's one of deep and loyal friendship, responsibility, trust and sincere feelings (especially with the conjunction, sextile or trine).

For some, this may seem to be a boring relationship, but actually, it's about being loyal and faithful too.The inconjunct points to separations, divorce or deaths etc.

Venus-Uranus
The conjunction, square and opposition denote the need to feel totally free, and pull away from an intimate love union. These are separative aspects resulting in separation, divorce or, in a more auspicious way, not seeing each other often.

The other Venus aspects to Uranus are freedom-loving too but can handle it in a more charming way.

The native cannot stand to be too long with someone else or with the same person. The relationship cools down quickly when the emotional bond grows. There often is love at first sight but also short-lived love experiences.

All Venus aspects to Uranus are related to dancing and rhythms -- which the natives love.

In many ways, both planets together bring something weird or unusual to the relationship: a huge age difference with your lover, a lover from a totally different (social) background or culture, extreme physical differences, etc.

Venus-Neptune
Most Venus aspects to Neptune are more related to artistic and creative characteristics so that love is lived on a more supra-personal higher level.

In many instances, the native has it difficult to live in reality and builds dreams resulting in (too) high expectations and disappointments. The native is not too much interested in sex but can live love in a platonic way. Both planets together are about (non-physical) romance.

The opposition aspect denotes love that dissolves or that is totally out of reach.

The sesquiquadrate is related to lots of love's sorrow and tearful love experiences. Expect many deceptions in love before meeting Mr. or Ms. Right!

Venus-Pluto
All Venus aspects to Pluto bring indulging intensity in your relationships and love life.

In lots of cases jealousy and possessiveness mark the relationship. Love unions may have cobweb-like traits, resulting in unhealthy and devastating entanglements. Both planets blended together may denote a huge fear of rejection, often resulting in clingy and sticky behavior (either from the native or from the partner). You may get easily absorbed by other people and may not be able to let go, denoting that you may be influenced by "the other" (the more so if the aspect is exact).

Eating disorders are not uncommon with the exact aspects, often resulting in issues about weight.

Also, relationships tend to change over and over from love into hate, hot into (ice-)cold. Any Venus aspect to Pluto creates a guilty feeling towards the love union.

The inconjunct often denotes the death of a lover and denotes a severe emotional burden. The opposition is highly forceful and emotionally pushy. The square aspect between both planets is quite ruthless.
