Marriage Horoscopes and How to Choose THAT Day

By Luc De Jaeger - Cosmic Technologies

Marriage horoscopes are just one of the other inceptional charts that describe the potential of your marriage.
In fact, every (new) beginning, be it a new love, a new job, a move, a birth... can be judged by such inceptional horoscopes.

Just draw a chart for that very moment of beginning, and you'll be able to delineate the innate disposition, development and outcome, out of this moment as a self-developing story.

So, with the marriage charts, set up for the exact moment when the couple exchanges vows and is officially pronounced man and wife, we can see how the marriage will unfold and develop.

You may argue then, that carefully choosing the right moment for such an important event must be most recommended.
It is, BUT, experience shows us that what is not indicated in the birth chart, will not happen.

The Natal Promise

So, if your birth chart shows marital problems, you may choose all possible (fortunate) marriage horoscopes, you just will have marital problems...
It's just part of your current life map and something that you will have to experience.
This kind of 'determinism' may seem hard to understand, but remember for now that this knowledge is grown out of experience and NOT out of reasoning...
Moreover, it's something that can better be explained metaphysically rather than astrologically.
Nevertheless, some rules may apply as to choosing the right or appropriate moment for a marriage.

The Timing

Among astrologers there is some doubt as to the exact moment the marriage is sealed.
Is it the moment of the vows, is it the official pronouncement of man and wife or is it the exchange of rings?
Resolving this question can only be done by looking at the deeper meaning of the ritual of a marriage.
We may ask you, when are you married? When do you feel that you are married, that you are man and wife?
We, at Cosmic Technologies (CosmiTec), are of opinion that you are man and wife, when YOU officially and personally are pronounced Man & Wife.....

So, this will be the moment to erect our marriage horoscopes.

That's why we will only use the time of the legal ceremony when you say have said YES to set up the marriage horoscopes.

Only then, you are officially married!

As marriage horoscopes are delineated as electional horoscopes, some rules are the same.
Often, astrologer think that they can choose a time when the planets indicate harmony and happiness for the marriage horoscopes, giving destiny a helping hand.

Alas.... there is NO guarantee that this time is the most propitious one.
Most couples plan a period (or year) within which they want to get married. But what if a year (or two or three or four,...) later there is a more auspicious period....

And what if the astrologer does not know about some invaluable (and lesser known) astrological techniques to find the most auspicious period?

We already touched this topic on this web site when we mentioned that some astrologers know more than others....
Astrologers should be VERY aware of the responsability they have when trying to choose a fortunate moment in time.
We just want to say it again: don't give your life out of hands. No one astrologer knows it all!
If you want to consult an astrologer to erect some marriage horoscopes, consult 2 or 3 other astrologers!
Together they know more and, in the end YOU too!

Astrological Rules For Choosing a Marriage Horoscope

We will not give any details as to find the best time (hour), since you will almost never be able to pinpoint the pronouncement of man and wife to the minute... BE REALISTIC!
If there is some delay of any kind, are you going to postpone your marriage because the hour might be wrong? You must be silly!

And what if you have found that the best time is in the late afternoon, on a moment there even are no marriage ceremonies organized...

If you love somebody, go for LOVE, not for astrology!
If the day is fortunate, we just hope the hour will be too. And, between..., we hope your natal chart shows some marital bliss too...

Also understand that a marriage is never ever the ultimate goal in life, nor is it the ultimate purpose of life at all!
The ultimate purpose of life here on earth is self-development and relationships (in a wide sense) are just a tool or means to develop "your Self."

That's why your marriage should only be a means to develop your Self and experience what it means 'to be married.'
Now to the most comprehensible theoretical rules for choosing the most auspicious marriage horoscopes (there are numerous more, but we'll only mention the most important ones, not to overwhelm you with information).
The real Marriage Chart, calculated for the exact time of the marriage after the marriage took place, will be discussed in another article.
  • Mind the position of the Moon!
    Some astrologers advice to avoid New and Full Moons.

    New Moons mostly have a hidden influence.

    Things are not that clear and there may be a lack of foresight. Things have NOT developed enough to start, so a marriage on a New Moon is not advisable.

    The Full Moon is more developed and visible to the public.

    There is maximum visibility and because of the opposition between the luminaries, this Lunation has the quality of an encounter (the Moon in the 7th - equal - house counting from the Sun).

    We, at Cosmic Technologies (CosmiTec) think that a Full Moon is a good day for a marriage because it signifies the culmination, the fulfillment of the love relationship and love-cycle.

    So, in our opinion, marriage horoscopes may contain a Full Moon, especially when the Moon is still waxing.

    A void of course Moon may not pose a problem if the Moon is not afflicted.

    However, you should never propose or engage when the Moon is void of course! We refer to our dating page.
  • Avoid (applying) squares or oppositions from the Moon to Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto.

    These aspects are a burden, causing tragedies, disruptive events, separations etc. in the family.
  • Avoid any planet in the same degree as the Moon's Node.

    According to the fabulous astrologer Ivy M. Goldstein-Jacobson this planet points to a catastrophe, casualty, fatality or tragedy, the more far-reaching when a malefic (Mars or Saturn) is involved.
  • Avoid retrograde personal planets (like Mercury or Venus) or Mars. Retrograde planets let you RE-do, RE-think the matter (the marriage too).

    Retrograde planets may feel RE-stricted, RE-pulsed, RE-fused.

    Retrograde planets almost always signify or represent persons in your life that are hiding, shy or ill (This is a HOT tip!)
    .

    But they can also RE-try and RE-evaluate.

    We, at Cosmic Technologies, can confirm that retrograde planets may cause some irritations, trouble and delay.

    You'll have to wait till the planet turns direct for a more fluent and 'direct' action.
  • Try to avoid any planet in one of the following positions:

    * the 19th degree Scorpio: Serpentis or the accursed degree bringing sorrow. Things are not as they seem.

    * the 9th degree Libra: the position of the Fixed Star Vindemiatrix: the Star of Widowhood.

    * the last degrees of the sign Taurus: the Head of Medusa, especially the 26th and the 29th degree.

    The 26th degree is the position of Algol, the most evil Fixed Star, causing to lose your head.

    The 29th degree Taurus is the position of the Weeping Sisters, causing something to weep about.

    It may (will) bring sadness and endings!

    We, at Cosmic Technologies, have found these degrees to be MOST important, so, indeed, don't neglect them - or better, DO avoid them in marriage horoscopes.

    * the 23th degree Pisces, a degree of sorrow, sadness and unhappiness.

    It's a very disturbing degree that you MUST avoid in the marriage horoscopes at all cost!

    In our experience, this degree has brought lots of tearful events, aggression and fights. Don't make love a battlefield!

    * try to avoid in the marriage horoscopes the day the Moon is in the Via Combusta (15° Libra - 15° Scorpio, except for the safe degrees of 22-24° Libra) because this brings misfortune and illness.
  • avoid a marriage on the so-called "dies atri" or unlucky or ill-omened days.
    These days are said to bring hard luck, trouble, chaotic experiences, delays, restrictions and/or disturbing events.

    The dies atri are:
    * January 2, 3, 4 and 18
    * February 3, 6, 8 and 16
    * March 13, 14, 15 and 29
    * April 19
    * May 3, 10, 22 and 25
    * June 17 and 30
    * July 19, 22 and 28
    * August 1, 17, 21, 22 and 29
    * September 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28
    * October 3, 6 and 11
    * November 12
    * (December has no dies atri)
  • Mind the position of Venus, the planet of love, relationships and sociability because, in marriage horoscopes, this planet becomes more important!
  • Look at the most exact midpoints with an orb of 0°00'-0°01'.

    Exact midpoints are invaluable.

    They are SUPER important because they absolutely OVERPOWER the aspects.

North Node-Map of the Soul

By Esoteric Artist

I attempted to read two of Jan Spiller's books on the moon nodes and the thickness of the books deterred me.  However, I was able to look up the north nodes of my family members and my own.  As important as these nodes are, I spend little time on the nodes when I'm reading a chart.  However, I like the idea that the nodes provide a map for our destiny or who our souls chose for us to become in this lifetime.  While the South Node deals with past lives and experience we bring into this life, the North Node provides a mystery as we enter the unknown zone.  We feel more comfortable with South Node activities even if they no longer serve us in this life.  Most of us shy away from the unknown and feel awkward trying out new energies, but in order to succeed on our life path for this time around, we need to venture into the North Node zone.

I've never ventured into a country where I don't speak the language.  It's not that I'm not intrigued by foreign cultures and languages because I am, but as a Cancerian with my Mercury in Cancer, I don't like placing myself in situations outside of my comfort zone.  Oddly, in this life my North Node falls in Cancer and learning self-nurturing and relating to others on an intimate level or even a familial level has caused me to feel like I've ventured into a land where I don't know the language.  Having lived many Capricorn lifetimes where I was either a member of a monastery, a cloistered nun or a business leader, I'm not used to relating to others on an emotional level, or so says my North Node.

Someone with an Aries North Node needs to learn how to speak their truth and become their own authority.  They need to stop playing the diplomat (Libra South Node) and stop trying to please others at their own expense.  Someone with a Sagittarius North Node needs to expand beyond a village mentality and encompass the whole wide world.  They move away from taking care of the details to envisioning the bigger picture.  However, the South Node contains many gifts and talents that we polished over many lifetimes.  And for many people, the North Node will feel like going back to college and starting from scratch with an unfamiliar subject.

When I came up with the idea for this post I heard Diana Ross in my thoughts singing that sad song with the lyrics, "Do you know where you're going to?"  With the North Node, our souls know where we're going, but our consciousness clings to the past.  Another description I come up with is graduating from high school and then venturing into the world of adults where we must learn new skills quickly so we can survive in a world of paying rent, and working paycheck to paycheck.  Sure, we feel frightened at first, but then we get the hang of it.  We must make a conscious effort to groove with our North Node and it's the same for everyone.

Despite the thickness of Jan Spiller's books, I recommend giving them a read so you can familiarize yourself with the lessons of your North Node.  These nodes affect every area of our lives from relationships, career, and health.  The more conscious we become the more the North Node calls to us and I wonder what Joseph Campbell would say about the destiny and quest of the North Node because it many ways embarking on the path of your North Node resembles a hero's journey.  You find your bliss and your purpose once you muster up the courage to walk the path where your North Node leads you.

If you're unfamiliar with the nodes, the North Node resembles an upside down horseshoe with the mouth of the shoe facing downward.  The South Node facing upwards.  I actually keep confusing the symbols for the nodes. They drive me crazy.  Look for the nodes in your natal chart and you will see that they appear in opposite houses and signs.  So if your South Node falls in Capricorn then your North Node is in Cancer at the same degree. Jan Spiller recommends reading the North Node and the North Node for the house that your North Node falls in.  So if you have a Sagittarius North Node in the 12th House, you would also read the North Node for Pisces. Spiller gives equal weight to both North Nodes (the house and the node itself), which just seems like a lot of work for the astrologer.

Here's Your Treasure Map

North Node in Aries--Lesson in this life is to speak up for yourself, become your own authority and have a life independent from family or a partner.  For success embody the strengths of an Aries Sun Sign.  Create balance in your life by honoring yourself first and then taking care of others (no self-sacrificing).

North Node in Taurus--Chill out and smell the roses.  Stop looking over your shoulder and entertaining paranoid thoughts about others.  In this life you learn to trust others, but also use your South Node Scorpio talents for discernment.

North Node in Gemini--In this life you can play more and philosophize less.  No one expects you to act the role of the university professor and your travels will take you closer to home, even if the whole world is on your radar.  Write a book or work as a community radio announcer and get to know your next door neighbors.

North Node in Cancer--Express your emotions and feelings to family members, friends, and partners, but first get in touch with your feelings. Put relationships first before career and refrain from bossing others around like a Mother Superior. Nurturing self and others opens the door to a fulfilling life where the biggest goal revolves around opening the heart chakra.  This is a chicken or un-chicken (for vegans) soup North Node.

North Node in Leo--Audition for the center stage role of your life. You are royalty in drag and you shine when you show up in the spotlight. After too many lives appearing as the detached humanitarian with a cause, your greatest cause in this life is basking in the sunlight and never apologizing for proclaiming yourself as numero uno.

North Node in Virgo--You fell onto the earth straight from the starry cosmos. While you feel like floating through your life in a velvet fog, it's time to ditch the rose-colored Piscean glasses and serve humankind in some way.  With your intuitive gifts you would make an excellent massage therapist or energy healer.  You could also work with animals or get your hands dirty tilling the soil and growing food for your community.  The key word here is service.

North Node in Libra--Ditch the boxing gloves and put away that warrior attitude.  The battle has ended and now you must speak the words of a diplomat. Self-interests won't serve you and your mission now is to balance the scales in partnerships and intimate relationships.

North Node in Scorpio--Stop rolling in the clover. The days of smelling roses has ended and the descent into the underworld can unearth treasures as you embark on the shamanic journey. Stare at taboos with your unflinching gaze, Scorpio North Node, as you explore sexuality, death and rebirth. You came to transform the planet while taking it through the Dark Night of the Soul to a peaceful paradise that awaits on the other side of Truth.

North Node in Sagittarius--Thinking small and paying attention to details won't serve you now.  Expand, expand, expand, your mind and your place of operation. Philosophize and send your arrows straight up into the cosmos.  Long distance exploration, networking with foreigners and teaching in a higher education setting call to you now.  Share your wisdom through teaching.

North Node in Capricorn--Remember that song, "Climb Every Mountain"? Well, your climb might feel lonely, but can you deny the view from the mountaintop? Join a monastery or nunnery, go on a pilgrimage, or run a corporation.  As you embark on this lonely road you learn the true lessons of leadership or maybe in your mountain cave you kiss the hem of God's robe.

North Node in Aquarius--Get over your ego already and take up a cause for the betterment of humanity or the earth's other inhabitants.  Moving away from the Leonine spotlight, you now lead the people through a dusty desert of humanitarian causes.  Think Martin Luther King, Jr., think Gandhi, Mother Theresa or Cesar Chavez. Follow their leads and you find your destiny.

North Node in Pisces--Transcend, transcend, transcend and stop sacrificing yourself on the altar of compassion and martyrdom. You have served the planet lifetime after lifetime, always giving and never receiving. Now sit in meditation and choose your favorite mantra.

North Node: Your Point Of Bliss

By Suze Harrison

I remember being really thrilled when I first discovered my north node was in Leo. Surely this meant that I was destined to be a Queen, or a famous actor, or something else spectacularly Leonine. Based on what I had read up until that point I figured this was certain to happen. I had learned that the north node represented the soul’s destiny in this life and surely a Leo north node wouldn’t settle for anything less than absolute superstardom.

Well, as it turns out, this is not necessarily the case. And the more I worked with my nodes the more I realised that the north node doesn’t necessarily represent a job, career, social status, marital status, state of health or anything that can be seen as an end result on the earthly plane. What it did represent however, over and above all else was what I now term your “Point of Bliss”.

I am a big fan of Joseph Campbell, the great mythologist who, among other things, defined the “Hero’s Journey” upon which many a great novel and movie has been based. And one of my favourite Joseph Campbell quotes is this:
“Follow your bliss, and the Universe will open doors for you when there were only walls.”
If there has ever been a symbolic definition of the north node, Joseph Campbell articulated it in this timeless quote. Following your bliss, which is encapsulated in the energies of your north node, will ensure your alignment with Divine Intelligence, and you’ll suddenly see doors opening for you where previously you only saw walls.

Remember, the nodal axis represents the soul’s journey in this life. These mathematical points represent the places in your chart, and in your life, where are closest to the Divine Source and most clearly aligned with the purpose of your incarnation from that Source. Once you begin to view the rest of your chart, and indeed the rest of your life, through the lens of the north node in particular, you will be well and truly on track to living your true purpose in this life.

Make no mistake though, your north node can be much harder to pin down than your south. Remember your south node represents everything that is familiar and when you encounter either people, situations or things that align with your south node energy you will get the feeling of being greeted by an old friend. Information that comes to you through your south node feels more like remembering than learning. When you encounter people associated with your south node it is more a sense of recognition than meeting them for the first time. As for the skills and abilities you bring with you, these are the things you can ‘turn your hand to’ from an early age rather than things you struggle over time to master.

The north node in contrast represents information that really interests you, lights your fire or ‘rings your bell’. Your north node people are those that you feel drawn to for no good reason, particularly those who do not seem to fit with the type you are usually attracted to. And the skills or abilities that resonate with your north node are those that you feel almost compelled to master, no matter how long it may take.

Sometimes you will stumble upon north node energies by accident. You will meet a person and see fireworks. You’ll find a book, topic or subject area and feel a tingle or just intuitively know that this is important for you. It may be the first time a future chef enters a kitchen, an actor steps onto a stage, or a painter picks up his brush. There is often an electric charge that accompanies this knowing, but I have equally encountered people who have just said that they feel an overwhelming sense of happiness when they hit on their north nodes by accident.

One major indicator of connection with the energy of the north node is the phenomenon of ‘losing time’. I have spoken briefly about Kairos time, which loosely translated means “god’s time” as opposed to Chronos time which is “clock time”. When you are engaged in activities that magnetise with the energies of your north node you will feel a sense of timelessness and it is quite common that you lose all track of time, and not realise it until an alarm goes off, the sun goes down or someone arrives to jolt you back into chronos time.

There are of course many ways for you to discover your life purpose, or your true bliss in this life. For me though, the great value of astrology is that the connection with your point of bliss is laid out for you in black and white. And once you hit upon that point you will be instantly aligned with your true life purpose. This point is indicated by the sign and house placement of your north node, and becomes more individualised as you investigate the planetary ruler of the node, aspects to your node and other planets or points located in any sign at the same degree as the node.

I truly believe that if you view the nodal axis as the heart of your chart, and the north node as your Point of Bliss, then recalibrate your life around this central point, all your other planets and placements will begin to function in the way it was intended they would when you incarnated. And that is as the vehicles through which the soul expresses its purpose in your own life.

I will be going into greater detail regarding the sign and house placements as the indicators of your Point of Bliss, but for now it’s worthwhile considering the following when interpreting the north node in your chart:
  1. First look at the sign and house placement of your north node.
  2. Then consider the sign and house placement of the node’s ruler* and what aspects it is making in your chart.
  3. Note any planets conjunct the north node within five degrees, and what houses they rule in your chart.
  4. Note the degree of your north node and then look for any other planets or points in the chart placed at the same degree, irrespective of the sign.
  5. Note any planets or points that form aspects to the north node.
Let’s now consider each of these points in more detail:
  1. The sign and house of your north node placement: this of course is directly opposite the south node sign and house. Unlike interpreting a planet in a house, where the planet represents the “what”, the sign in which it is placed the “how” and the house as the “where”, I have found that the energies of the sign and house where the north node is placed tend to merge. I will write more on this in subsequent posts but for the moment it is an excellent idea to start writing down keywords for both the sign and house placement of the north node and begin merging and blending them to see how they align you with your Point of Bliss.
  2. The importance of the node’s ruler cannot be understated. This planet, above all others will be a leading vehicle in how the soul’s journey manifests in this life. The sign and house placement and the aspects to this planet will be strong indicators of where the life purpose is most likely to be played out in your physical life. Most astrologers will tell you that the soul purpose is lived out in the house where the north node is located, however this rule has failed me more times than I can count. Look to the ruler of the node to see where and how the life purpose manifests in your life.
  3. Any planets or points conjunct the north node are also strong indicators of where the life purpose and Point of Bliss will manifest in your life. They are also the planets that will give added dimension to your soul’s journey. These planets will colour and influence the workings of the north node however depending on how aware you are, the energies of these planets may be a bit latent. The soul has selected them conjunct the north node for a reason – it’s imperative that you develop them in this lifetime. But their presence conjunct the north node, and therefore opposite the south node indicates that these energies have been projected outward in past lives, ie, not ‘owned’ and worked with. These planets more than any other may be the most unfamiliar but their placement shows that their development is super important in this life.
  4. The degree of your node is important for many reasons. If you’re interested in numerology it’s worth looking at this number for added guidance to your purpose, however from the astrological perspective, this number operates like a power number in your chart and your life. Any other planet or point at the same degree in any sign will be making an exact aspect to the north node and this is extremely important. The planet or point and your node are inextricably linked and the nature of the aspect will determine the nature of this link. My north node sits at 18 degrees Leo, so 18 is the critical degree. I was born on the 18th of the month, my ascendant is 18 degrees Capricorn and my Mars sits right on my ascendant in the same degree. They form a quincunx or inconjunct aspect back to my node and this behaves like an eternal balancing act. I know that if I sit squarely in my Mars and Ascendant that I can be forceful, motivated and get things done, but doing so without the balance of my north node or Point of Bliss I end up with a bunch of empty achievements that bring me no satisfaction or real success. My Mars/Ascendant in quinciunx to my north node operates like two people on either end of a see saw – when one hops off the other one drops to the ground and doesn’t move. However if both ends are weighted, there is balance, co-operation and fluidity of movement.
  5. Any planets or points that aspect the north node will form a complete pattern by also aspecting the south node in some way. These planetary patterns form an integral part of the soul’s journey, and once again the ease of the aspects denotes the ease of integration or the type of obstacles you are likely to encounter on your soul’s journey.
The great thing about the north node is that It’s always talking to you, guiding you, encouraging you to do certain things, be with certain people, go to certain places and to never give up on your search for bliss. Whenever you follow hunches or act on intuition or gut instinct, you are heeding the call of your north node. Whenever you engage fully in the energies of this point and all its subtleties you are operating from your Point of Bliss and will experience that elusive ‘flow’ about which so much is written but so little is experienced. Sometimes the north node is discovered early and the call answered unquestioningly, and at other times the urges are quelled, the heart’s fire is doused and the soul shrinks away into a corner to await its next opportunity to reach out. Either way, the call of the soul is always there, and a commitment to uncovering and following this path will result in the journey of your life.
