The Moon through the Signs

The Moon’s cycle (the time it takes to orbit the Earth once) is 29 and a half days and she spends approximately two and a half days in each Zodiac sign.

Below is a brief description of the energies you may feel as the Moon moves through each sign. The energies are most potent when it is a Full Moon or a New Moon.

The widget on the right shows which phase the Moon is in right now.

To find out what sign the Moon is in now, see the Void of Course Moon table.

When the Moon is in Aries things move fast and people are impatient. These are good days for forceful, fiery, fearless types who want to take charge. These are not good days for making compromises.

When the Moon is in Taurus things just keep ticking over slowly. These are good days for types who enjoy slowing down and enjoying the finer things in life. These are not good days for making big changes.

When the Moon is in Gemini things become restless and ideas are shared. These are good days for communicative, active types who like to connect with others. These are not good days for standing still and contemplating the bigger picture.

When the Moon is in Cancer things become more nurturing. These are good days for types who like security and prefer being with close loved ones. These are not good days for moving out of your comfort zone.

When the Moon is in Leo things are playful and dramatic. These are good days for prima-donna types who like to perform and gain recognition. These are not good days for being shy and retiring.

When the Moon is in Virgo things become more introverted and analytical. These are good days for helpful, discerning, down to earth types. These are not good days for showing off or going on flights of fancy.

When the Moon is in Libra things become more balanced, harmonious and beautiful. These are good days for sociable, idealistic, fair minded types. These are not good days for selfish, uncooperative behaviour.

When the Moon is in Scorpio things become intense and mysterious. These are good days for deep, forceful, resourceful types. These are not good days for losing control of emotions.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius things are fun and spontaneous. These are good days for adventurous, active, optimistic types. These are not good days for moping, nit-picking or for being pessimistic.

When the Moon is in Capricorn things get serious and disciplined. These are good days for practical, ambitious, organised types. These are not good days for being lazy and shirking duties.

When the Moon is in Aquarius things can be unpredictable. These are good days for eccentric, intellectual, inventive, humanitarian types. These are not good days for following convention and tradition.

When the Moon is in Pisces things are ethereal and dreamy. These are good days for sensitive, intuitive, creative, compassionate types. These are not good days for setting boundaries, rules and limits.

What is a Twinflame?

Twin Flame reunions are the most fulfilling relationships we can enter into as humans, on all levels. However, twin flame couples have been extremely rare on the planet, and for good reasons, which will be described later. Despite this, we are finding that more and more twins are finding each other now, because of the acceleration of spiritual transformation and opportunities for soul evolution we are all experiencing. People are evolving and learning and healing at such a fast rate that they are getting ready for their twins faster. What used to take lifetimes to learn and heal, people are now going through in years or even months. This is the astounding level of acceleration we and the planet are going through.

When twins get together, it is for some kind of spiritual service work. This is their primary reason for finding each other, because through their union a huge birthing of creative energy is released, to be used for their mission together. More and more twins are attempting to get together now to help the planet and humanity make a big shift forward in consciousness.

However, many of these attempts at reunion are unsuccessful because the individual people are not quite ready for the intensity of a twin flame union. It is more intense than any other union, and this intensity is at a soul level, not as much in the physical or even emotional bodies. This doesn't mean that there isn't a good attraction at those levels as well, but the strongest attraction is of spirit. This is one of the distinguishing characteristics of a twin soul. Many people think they have met their twin because the attraction is so intense, but it is a karmic attraction, one of need or bodily desire rather than the Divine Love of twins.

Your chance of meeting and staying with your twin depends on how evolved your soul is, and how much of your baggage from this and past lives you have cleared. The biggest reason twins have to separate after coming together is their individual emotional baggage. Because in the presence of your twin, there can be nothing between you, nothing blocking your closeness. This means that everything comes up for healing that you haven't previously healed. Everything!

When twins reunite, both of them experience an acceleration of their spiritual growth and awakening. They get on the fast track of learning about esoteric wisdom and experiencing other states of consciousness. They usually haven't been together all that often during their series of lives on the planet, and so their backgrounds may be different. Yet, there is a closeness and similarities of spirit that are almost uncanny, noticed in many ways, such as looking back at yourself when you look at your mate, and a remembering of the distant past when you first split up. Guidance is strong with these relationships, and usually one or both have a good channel for communication with Spirit. Their connection is telepathic, and hugging each other is like coming home for nourishment.

Signs that you have found your Twinflame

An overwhelming sense of love and attraction.

A sense of completion that goes beyond words.

A magnetism to the other stronger than anything you have ever experienced.

You will complement one another.

The ability to literally feel one another whether you are with or without your partner.

A feeling that you are so close you just might be related - like a brother or a sister.

A complete and total breakdown of your lives as you knew them upon finding one another.

The power to touch the other without physical means from great distances.

Over the course of your life you may have dreams of a "mystery man/woman."

Synchronicities will be abundant. You may find yourselves calling, emailing and texting one another at the exact same time. You may also find yourselves buying each other the same gifts.

You may feel your heart wanting to jump out of your chest at the sound of his/hers voice.

The ability to feel each others emotions, whether they be happy or sad ones, from great distances.

The desire to be with one another no matter what the obstacle blocking your way.

The ability to dream of your partner in their current state and verify the accuracy of that dream, later.

You may notice the ability to collapse time as you knew it. Upon your coming together, time itself will cease to exist.

When you and your partner are out and about, you may notice the eyes of everyone are upon you. Your love for one another will be so great that it is not uncommon for the eyes of everyone to be upon the two of you.

You may find yourselves completing each others sentences, sometimes even before you have the chance to begin them.

Upon connecting with your twin flame/soulmate, you may find that you are practically mirror images of one another and that you may want to even run from your partner because of the things you see in yourself from the reflection of his/her eyes.

If you currently live apart, (even at great distances) you may notice the power to be sexually intimate without ever even physically touching the other.

You may notice that any of your bad habits, ie. smoking, drinking, or whatever they be, will adversely effect you. Even in your diet, food that you used to be able to eat, will have to be set aside.

You may find that certain dates in your lives, ie. birthdays or the even the day you met, will fit perfectly into the Fibonacci Sequence or the number 11 11.

A realization that this isn't the first time the two of you have met. Past life experiences.

Netpune in Pisces and You

Neptune in Pisces: Where is going to affect you?

In 2011, Neptune will be barely beginning its journey in Pisces, but it will give you a glimpse of what area of your life is going to start longing, yearning, envisioning or imagining what could be possible.

Remember that Neptune will be in Pisces until 2025, so whatever changes this planet will bring are bound to happen gradually over time.

Look at the house where Neptune will be transiting in you chart and check out the definitions below.

1st House Neptune: The house of self and potential

Neptune will attune your body and mind to the existence of a higher energy. With Neptune transiting your 1st house, you will discover a more idealistic, dreamy and sensitive side of yourself. You might want to develop a spiritual practice based on physical exercise such as yoga.

2nd House Neptune: The House of money and values

Your value system will undergo a complete change, putting some more spirituality on how you make money and dissolving any previous bias. You need to be more careful with investments as Neptune is notorious for not letting you see clearly.

3rd House Neptune: The House of communications

With Neptune transiting your 3rd house, intuition takes over and you learn how to use it in daily communications. A deeper appreciation for other forms of non-verbal expression can surface

You are likely to discover imaginative means of expressing yourself. Neptune stimulates your imagination and intuition. Your words are more poetic and perhaps even inspirational.

4th House Neptune: The House of home, parents, and family of origin

Retrograde

http://www.drstandley.com/astrologycharts_retrogrademotion.shtml

  • Saturn Retrograde

  • Uranus Retrograde

  • Neptune Retrograde

  • Pluto Retrograde

  • Retrograde Motion

WHAT DOES 'OUT OF ITS SHADOW MEAN'?

Retrograde motion pulls back and gives you an opportunity to take care of your past (old business). The past that needs to be resolved is directly related to the planet involved. Mercury retrograde has to do with communciation, YOUR COMMUNICATION. Pluto retrograde has to do with transformation, YOUR TRANSFORMATION. Jupiter retrograde has to do with abundance, YOUR ABUNDANCE. 'Out of its Shadow' means after the planet leaves its retrograde (backward) motion and goes direct (forward) again making its way back to the degree that it was before it went retrograde. In other words, it's when the planet is back to its old self. Now you can start again (a do-over so to speak) and prayerfully you learned something during the retrograde experience or took care of the past while the planet was retrograde and now you get to move forward under better circumstances than you would have had the planet not gone retrograde. Retrograde motion isn't a bad thing folks, it's actually meant to serve your higher purpose. Everything is always for your higher purpose.

    Retrograde Motion is misleading!
Retrograde motion is when it APPEARS as though a planet is actually moving in a backward motion due to the relation of the planet to the earth in its particular position at a certain point in time.

  • Saturn Retrograde

  • Uranus Retrograde

  • Neptune Retrograde

  • Pluto Retrograde

  • Let's face it, planets are NEVER actually retrograde (moving backward) or stationary (stopped). This is a phenomenon due to the Sun casting a shadow on the planet making it appear as though it is stationary or that it is in retrograde motion.

Even when a planet "APPEARS" to be in retrograde motion its influence does not change, BUT your individual response to that particular influence of that planet may be different. Unless of course, you remember that this is merely an illusion. IT ISN'T REAL!!!

So how can you use retrograde motion to your advantage?

When a planet is said to be in retrograde motion, you can focus on the energy of the planet (like Mercury) and become more efficient in adopting its positive attributes. So when Mercury is said to be in retrograde motion and it appears communications are going to heck in a hand-basket, this is merely our response and not what actually is. Again, look up Mercury or the retrograde planet in question on the planetary symbols page and adopt the positive attributes of that planet.

The Sun and Moon are never retrograde or stationary. The North and South Node are ALWAYS retrograde.

    Marriage Rules - Electional Chart

    By Marion March, 1998

When calculating the time, remember the marriage starts with the first "I do!"

    1. There should be no squares from the Moon and it should not be void of course. A waxing Moon (between the New and Full Moon) is better than a waning one (between the Full and New Moon).

    2. Fixed signs rising are best when you want a long lasting relationship. Next are the Cardinal signs, especially Libra (relationship oriented), Capricorn (the need for any venture to be successful) and Cancer (nurturing). Aries and Mutable signs can indicate very short-lived situations.

    3. A relationship usually works well when the ruler of the Ascendant (1st) and Descendant (7th) are in good aspect to each other, since they represent the two parties in question.

    4. Try to have the Sun and Moon (portraying the groom and bride) in good aspect to each other.

    5. Because Saturn can bring on limits or delays, it should not be placed in an angular house. It fares best in cadent (3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th) houses or, if that is not possible, put it in one of the succedent (2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th) houses. If possible, avoid all harsh applying aspects to Saturn, including the conjunctions. When the aspect becomes exact, there could be misunderstandings, feelings of neglect or sadness of some kind.

    6. If you want the relationship to proceed in a pleasant fashion, keep Uranus out of the angular houses, especially the 1st and 7th.

    7. The luminaries (Sun and Moon), as well as Venus and Jupiter (the benefics), should be above the horizon, if possible. Elevated planets are more visible and seem to bring a certain ease to the elected venture.

    8. Try to have Venus (woman) and Mars (man) in harmonious aspect to each other, also Venus (love and partnership) to the Ascendant/Descendant (the couple); Jupiter (luck and growth) to the Ascendant/Descendant, the Moon (feelings) to Venus (harmony). In other words, a strong, well aspected Venus is very beneficial.

    9. Avoid the Moon in Scorpio where it is in its fall and where it can be secretive and possessive, not exactly conducive to a happy relationship. A Libra Moon, on the other hand, works quite well in a marriage Electional chart since it seeks harmony and balance.  Strong and well matched couples seem to do well with the Moon in Leo.

    10. The Sun or Moon approaching a square or opposition to Uranus may indicate a separation or divorce when the aspect becomes exact.

    11. A retrograde Venus is not advised for any marriage chart. Since Venus only retrogrades for about 40 days every two years, it is fairly easy to avoid.

Buying and Selling Property, Moving to a House - Electional Rules

    by Marion March, 1998

The Election chart to purchase property starts the moment you make the official offer to buy, whether to the seller directly or through a real estate agent. To sell property, the Election chart starts the moment you put the house up for sale, either  when you sign a contract with a realtor or when you hammer the sign onto your front lawn; some people who sell without an agent feel the chart should be set for when they
put a "For Sale" ad in the newspaper.

    1. Follow all the usual rules for the Moon: positive aspects, not void of course and, if
possible, waxing. Cancer and Taurus Moons are particularly welcome.

    2. In any purchase, the Ascendant and its ruler describe the buyer, whereas the
Descendant (7th) and its ruler denote the seller. Flowing aspects between these two
houses are very important for either a purchase or a sale, but remember for whom you are
calculating the chart, the seller or the buyer, and fortify that house (the 1st) as well as the
4th house which represent the property. Smooth, positive aspects between these three
houses (1st, 4th, 7th) are a must. In any sale, the Ascendant and its ruler describe the
person who wishes to sell, the Descendant explains where the buyer is coming from. Easy
aspects between these two houses help to make the deal flow smoothly.

    3. Look to the 4th to describe the house or land itself. Try to strengthen this astrological
house and its ruler. This applies to purchases as well as to sales. I've seen some sales fall
through if the ruler of the 4th has only troublesome aspects or the Moon is void of course.

    4. To buy, a fixed Ascendant is desirable, unless this acquisition is to before a quick
turnover or a short term investment. To sell property quickly, it is wise to choose a
cardinal Ascendant, if possible; mutable is next best.

    5. In any Election chart, it is helpful to have the luminaries and benefic above the horizon
and the challenging planets (Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto) away from the angles.

    6. Do not sign papers or contracts concerning any property if Mercury or Venus are
    retrograde.

    7. Avoid having the rulers of the angles in retrograde motion.

MOVING into a HOUSE, CONDOMINIUM or APARTMENT:

This is another frequent request for an Electional chart, which is not surprising in the
United States where people seem to constantly be on the move. It does not really matter if
the place you move into is rented, owned or loaned, if it is a house, an apartment or just a
room...as long as it is going to be your abode, where you hang your proverbial hat for a
certain amount of time, it is considered home.

When calculating the time, Moving in starts with the first personal object moved into the
    home.

    1. Most of the general rules given before apply, with the Moon again being the primary
consideration. Therefore, avoid squares, be careful with oppositions and quincunxes and,
of course, shun a void of course Moon.

    2. Your astrological knowledge and good common sense will help you determine all most
other factors. Since you want your new home to be pleasant and free from trouble, you
would like the ruler of the Ascendant (you) in positive aspect (trine, sextile, conjunction)
to the 4th house ruler (the home).

    3. Unless this is a temporary residence, or for some reason you don't wish to stay in the
home for a long time, try for a fixed Ascendant. (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).

    4. Avoid Saturn or Mars in angular houses, and unless you thrive on excitement, keep
    Uranus away as well.

    5. Elevated luminaries (Sun and Moon) and so-called benefics Venus and Jupiter are
    helpful.

    6. Though you should not buy a house while Mercury or Venus are retrograde, it does not
seem to affect the actual time you move into the place.

Mercury Retrograde - A New Look at the Guide of Souls

    by Robert Wilkinson

Most people have heard of Mercury retrograde, but little is known about how to make best use of these misunderstood recurring periods. Since we have another of these retrogrades approaching in the near future, I thought I'd offer you some insights now so that you can get yourself positioned to take advantage of the coming retrograde period. Of course I'll also do my usual 3-part series in the next two weeks on what it means in general, what it means for each sign specifically, and how it relates to past Mercury retrograde themes.

There are a lot of myths, supposition, and confusion about Mercury retrograde, yet there are many things one can achieve during these periods that occur three times a year. It's a great time to examine the Cosmic Magician and figure out some things not evident when Mercury is direct in motion. I offer many insights into how we can use these times productively in my ground-breaking book, "A New Look At Mercury Retrograde," now out of print but soon to be republished on this site as an ebook.

Many want to act productively during these times but don’t know how, usually due to paralysis induced by indecision, ambivalence, or second-guessing. Actually, despite the superstition and fluff of most commercial astrological explanations about how to approach these times, they're really not so bad! Again, if you can find a copy of my book (there are a few out there) you can investigate more about this oft-recurring phenomenon and get major insights how best to use these times. Since it's so hard to find, I'll try to post some relevant sections over the next few weeks that will help you understand what's up when Mercury, or Hermes, "the guide of Souls," is slow in motion, which is really the meaning of a retrograde.

Briefly, it's a time to take a new look at information, insights, and perceptions, and rework interpretations to prepare for the four month period that follows a Mercury retrograde. Mercury goes back over ground it's just traversed, but during the retrograde there is an entirely new angle of view that presents itself so that some things previously unknown or unnoticed can be factored in for the future. There are curious returns that allow us to re-think some things, and find a new rhythm of coordinating our life affairs.

A little explanation here. All the planets go retrograde due to the way perception works from our angle of vision here on Earth. Planets obviously do not go backwards, but they do slow down and speed up in their orbits relative to the Sun, and this creates interesting perspectives here on Earth. A retrograde only appears to be going backwards, much like a slow train appears to be going backwards relative to an express train. Now the fact that motion changes is not what’s important here, unless you’re an astrophysicist. What is important to explore is how best to use these recurring periods for maximum effectiveness without being deflected or hindered by the superstition and mythology surrounding "Mercury retrograde." As I noted in the book,

"… retrograde periods offer us a chance to slow down certain parts of our life for closer examination, preparing for a change that inevitably occurs. This is part of a larger cyclic process of unfoldment when the planet speeds up again in forward motion. Life always speeds up again after a time of reflection, contemplation, and transitional change. One of the benefits of Mercury retrograde is that it provides the time for reflection, which can lead to revitalization after a symbolic fallow period….

Periods of reflection, meditation, and contemplation allow us to take a needed break from routine or inertia. Retrogrades are the natural time to do this. When we turn inward, our Soul connection assists our growth by allowing us to focus on that which we would not address if we were preoccupied with mundane affairs….

When a planet goes retrograde, the areas of life that it symbolizes need to be re-examined. It is metaphorically an in-breathing or dreaming, a retracing and reexamining of steps already traversed, digesting and assimilating previous experience…. This is a time when we can examine the effect that our personal subconscious and the Collective Unconscious has upon us…"

While it seems as though Mercury retrograde causes many things to malfunction and brings miscommunications and delays in its wake, actually no planet or its influence is good or bad unto itself. We are the ones who determine our "destiny," based on our choices, which shape our character. In that sense, "character is destiny," and so we have the responsibility to determine whether we will be active or passive in responding to life’s challenges. We have free will and no planet or star "makes" anything happen. They merely indicate the larger patterns we live within, and so by understanding these patterns and what they symbolize, we are in a position to be in harmony or disharmony with inner and outer "reality." This is the power of our individuality to rise above inertia, superstition, and belief systems that are obsolete, inadequate, or fear-based.

In any case, Mercury retrograde has been with us and will be with us for a long, long, time, as long as the planets have their present orbits around the Sun. So the more we learn about this recurring phenomenon, the more able we will be to take advantage of our ability not to get lost or bogged down by "Mercury retrograde." As one great astrologer once wrote, "Action speaks louder than suffering." By learning how to use Mercury retrograde periods wisely and consciously, even if our affairs are momentarily diverted in strange directions, coordinated in some unusual ways, or take some peculiar twists and turns, they will usually turn out for the best, whether you knew you were doing that or not. Often we get useful information and insights we overlooked before the retrograde, and these times help us factor in different pieces of our life's puzzles so we can operate more effectively after the retrograde period ends.

Sometimes it may seem like it's two steps forward, one to the side, one back, two to the side, and three forward. It's all okay, since it's showing you a different way to be guided to your truth and more effective way of being in the world. Often things don't turn out the way we suspect, but that can be as good as it can be difficult. Still, due to the different rhythm of events and perspectives that send things off on strange or unexpected tangents, it is always useful to get your affairs in order before the retrograde. Then while in the three week period and things are slowed down or seemingly moving in a different direction or even backwards, turn to whatever has been neglected and needs attention, finishing them up so that you can get on with new business when the retrograde ends.
